Patrick Bamford - a cheating c*nt... on 23:15 - Oct 26 by BryanPlug

Yeah, if I get in the Achilles, my natural reaction is for me to jump in the air to such an extent that my ankles are higher than the rest of my body before rolling around.

More chance of getting injured from the landing he took after diving so far in the air. One day he will get actually injured and not many fans will shed a tear when he does. He's a persistent cheat, end off.

It’s a foul
Jesus.
Modern football really is rubbish.
Just because someone’s fouled doesn’t mean they should go down (up?) like that. I hate that even rational, knowledgeable football fans like you and GB now think that’s ok.

I’m not saying ok - but ‘cheating c*nt’ way OTT surely for some of the other stuff we see

It is a painful one, but it does seem like players have pre-installed this dive element whenever they're touched now, it used to be that in this situation a player would simply fall to their knees and then hold their Achilles...

Kicking people is unavoidable in a competitive game of football, players reacting like Bamford isn’t.
But hey, seems like many disagree and that’s fair enough, I’m amazed that any neutral fan can look at that and be anything other than disgusted and bemused by the reaction of Bamford.
Player behaviour is dreadful and stuff like this is the main reason I, despite being utterly obsessed with football for my whole life, now rarely watch games that don’t involve Ipswich.
I think normalising it, or focusing on whether there was ‘contact’ is a big part of the problem.
I wish rugby wasn’t such an inferior sport in every other way because I would far rather watch real sportsmen like them.

In broad agreement with all of this.

The only way to stop it is for referees to start giving a free kick when a player is fouled but stays on their feat; players that don't make a meal of it rarely get the free kick, leading to the current situation where players feel contact and exaggerate it to make it clear to the referee. It isn't right, but it is a long way from diving when there isn't actually contact made.
