"Have you got an extra one for my niece, she's really sick and gutted she can't come" as she thrust a bag she was holding.

Last year the same woman with the same kids one of which was an infant

No-one has ever knocked on my door at Halloween.
It happened to a friend who said "trick".
The kid was so annoyed not to get any sweets he stamped on my friends foot and ran away.

I think it’s great  . It was the US experience that sold it to me though, as we don’t really have a clue how to do it properly as we’re a bunch of miserable sods.
Of course, any costume is acceptable. The sinister stuff, while on show sometimes in the US is in no way obligatory. It should be more about people coming together to have a bit of fun dressing up, having pumpkin carving competitions, etc. It’s just a bit of fun to brighten up a miserable time of year as it gets darker and colder. |  |
