Well it wasn't pretty was it?

Hard to feel we really played well at all tonight. But whether it was groundspotters ticking off Spotland on the assumption they'll never come back, already having tickets and a sense of adventure, to make up a third of the attendance or so and totally drown out the hardy regulars for chunks of the game was brilliant.

It's another odd, compact and really friendly place to go.

If we don't sign a right back, or Lambert doesn't get over whatever it is that keeps Donacien from deputising we will end up losing a few more games. Rochdale had a decent enough keeper, and a number 8 who eventually dropped back. But what he allowed them to do was push up two wingbacks every time and send balls over the top of our defence and it nearly worked.

We could easily have done similar with much better players. But Judge couldn't get anything out of a young kid who was admittedly full of confidence, and Danny the Fisher Price Rowenaldo had a few chops in his arsenal, but until his lovely flicked goal, didn't look much better.

The Hollywood passing and shots from angles only really work when they sometimes find their man or aren't ten yard too far from making anything of note happen. That seemed to grind on the crowd after a while.

Too much bunching up and allowing Rochdale to compress the space made me feel really sorry for the strikers. Norwood's lack of grace and silly booking was annoying. McShane wound him up a treat and just hit the floor as soon as he could to make sure he got carded.

We were a bit unlucky at the end in terms of Georgiou and Dozzell not finding a man free in the box. But really either of the chances which hit the wood work from Garbutt and Woolfenden deserved goals, even if our open play didn't all that often.

The ref and the nearside lino in the second half got loads of grief. There was a baffling moment when Edwards was 2 on 1 and the spare man trampled him, only to be waved as play on. Likewise a few offsides weren't given or even able to be given because the lino was miles off the pace. I just think we'll have to accept that's how bad things are down here.

If we are top of a league without ever really laying siege to a team or blowing them away, it doesn't matter ultimately, but it'd be nice to think something is going to click soon and we'll give Darren Ferguson something else to whinge about as well a lesson in how to win your own games first.

Chambers at the end erupted towards us gesturing and shouting, it felt like he was almost telling us off. You could see how much it meant to him. He must have pumped his fist until he ran dry and was all over his defensive colleagues congratulating them.

I'm still not sure about the Morris dancing thing at the end either. Good luck to those getting home well in to tomorrow.

I have to pull you up on that ‘foul’ on Edwards. It wasn’t. He saw the man coming a mile off and slowed down so the man ran into him. Too afraid to defend the attack so he tried to buy a foul. Rightfully, it didn’t work and thankfully we got away with it.

The bit where the officials gave an offside against us, and allowed Rochdale to take the free-kick in our half was particularly special.

That is allowed now, can do it where attacker touches the ball

Donacien vs Wimbledon is why Donacien will unlikely ever feature in the league again.

An ITFC player cannot be offside in his own half.

The ball was played forward, Jackson (I think), ran on to it, controlled it 10 yards in to the Rochdale half and was flagged offside, fair enough.

The ref then allowed the free-kick to be taken 20 yards further forward, 10 yards in to the half we were defending.

Fair enough, missed that then - but if a player is offside and comes back into his own half the FK can be taken in that half even though it seems mad

Yes, the bloke near me sounded like he was about have a heart attack at that one.

Was really funny, but like a lot of things such as letting them kick a moving ball later you did wonder what was going on half the time.

The drop ball caught a few people out too.
