Just be sure to complain about renewal prices, like insurance they seem to offer crap renewal prices. As it happens, Green Flag is managed by the Direct Line Group, so the renewal tactic adds up.

Breakdown cover on 20:38 - Nov 7 with 2314 views | jeera | Right. Many/most don't use or even possess their own stunningly coloured vehicles nowadays. 'They' all generally speaking, use a nearby firm they sub out to. So the standards are pretty much across the board; the type/level of cover etc. With that out of the way I have been using Start Rescue for the past few years. Cheap[er], as reliable as the others, same level of cover, and actually tend to offer a discount over the time spent with them as opposed to putting the cost up when you're not looking. Colchester based.

I will second that. Just make sure you don't pay the first price they give you, it is always possible to get a decent discount.

No horses, no. And, and this a significant 'and', they also supply you with a free Legal Expenses policy. Which is probably not worth the [non] paper it's sometimes printed on, but at least it won't cost you £25+ as it will with your regular insurance policy each year. My recovery policy has wavered between £35-£50 mark with a free £25 Legal policy that I have not needed to buy as an extra from my insurance provider. In other words - decent roadside cover for a year for a tenner or so. [Post edited 7 Nov 2019 21:09]

Alas, no. But such wishful sentiments are perhaps why this forum is called "Those Were The Days."

I, also, am with Green Line. Always had good service when I've needed it.

I've always gone with AA and RAC, both have been very good but always have to haggle with them when the renewal comes up. Both been excellent when I've needed them though; I've been with RAC for about 5 years now because they've been cheaper than AA once I've negotiated a renewal price.

Breakdown cover on 08:38 - Nov 8 with 2056 views | Churchman | Green Flag left my sister in the lurch the other month saying they couldn’t come out for several hours when she needed to be somewhere. She phoned the AA and despite not being a member, they were there in 20 mins and got her car going. Obviously she had to join there and then, but they solved her problem. My personal view is that like everything else, you get what you pay for with insurance and the AA is probably the best. [Post edited 8 Nov 2019 9:01]

This. Didn’t realise my Hsbc account included breakdown cover until a month or two ago, needed a hand and all very easy and efficient - think it’s basically RAC.

But often 'basic' RAC. I have had these and they need checking to see if it's the cover you want. Just in case. There's not much worse than finding yourself stuck somewhere n a dark rainy night, phoning up just to find you don't have the cover you thought you had. So much we used to get as standard are now considered to be add-ons.
