Just had another glut of abuse reports and related PMs, all regarding to the same spat between a handful of long-term users which has been ongoing for some months, probably longer, but seems to have come to a head over the last couple of weeks.
I think we've asked nicely enough for it to stop but so far to no avail. If it continues I'm not sure we have any alternative but to ban all those involved. Getting ridiculous now, the forum can't work if posters spent their time sniping and winding one another up. As much as anything else, it's not fair on us to take up our evenings with this sort of thing.

May I say, speaking for myself, that I don't know who or what you're referring to.
Not on this occasion anyway - and not exactly. But I missed whatever that was last night.
I can't be the only one, so is it not possible to hand out a few yellow cards via PM with a brief outline of what is expected just in case someone is offending but is genuinely unsure they have over-stepped the mark?
Otherwise all this is just putting everyone on edge surely. |  |

Has been suggested many times by several people - the ability for users to be able to block others completely (ie from seeing anything they post) might resolve most of the problems. It could be limited, maybe 3-5 per poster, so people can't just evade people who disagree with them politically.
Alternatively, you/Gav could impose a forced mutual block of any 2 people?

Seconded. I've used other forums where the ignore function is mutual so people can't see your posts either. I div listed one poster once but they kept replying to my posts trying to goad me and generally talking smack, as was evident from other people's responses, so I unblocked them so I could have a right of reply. If they couldn't see my posts it would have solved the problem. | |
