Players YOU always wished we had signed 13:28 - Nov 8 with 11095 viewsskyblue23

I'm not talking about players we were linked or close to signing and I'm not talking about Messi or Ronaldo. I'm talking players who weren't world beaters you'd have loved to get in an Ipswich shirt at some point in there career.

I'll start, Liam Lawrence whilst he was at Stoke. What a player in that period of his career for the level!

You don't think spending £4.5m on a keeper who chose when he did/didn't want to play might have been a bigger issue!?

I'm not sure any of that summer's recruitment would make it into the textbook!

Alan Judge when he left Notts County

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Wrong.

Scored one of the best goals any of us have seen an ITFC player score and he was instrumental in our good run in late winter / early Spring 2001-02 which almost kept us up.
As soon as he went to the African Nations Cup, our form fell off a cliff and we plummeted back down the table to get relegated.

Tommy Miller described him as unplayable, but just said he was too old to last a 90.

Indeed including a 2-1 win at Spurs which the locals did not take in good grace!

This is going to be very recent and somewhat uninspired, but Richard Stearman. I still feel we could have snagged him after his loan if we were flexible enough.

Going about a bit further, I did always used to be very envious of Bolton for having Eider G.. well, im not going to attempt to spell it. This was before he went on to the peak of his career too.

Pat Jennings for me. We were close and with him it is likely we would have won the league a couple of times and more besides.

Phillips is the obvious one but at a lesser level, I’d loved us to have signed the West Ham player Mark Noble. A smashing little player whose had a good career since his short loan period with us.

Alan Mahon.

He was amazing in that brief loan spell and exactly what we needed no the left.

It was a double blow when he left, not only did we lose a key player he then went and signed for a promotion rival in Wigan!

Imagine what some of the people on here who wet their knickers over us selling the Statless Messiah would have made of THAT.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
