Slightly tangentially, did you see the Norwegian government extended oil drilling permits in the arctic last week? Didn't go down to well I believe and seems odd given the wealth fund is divesting from fossil fuel investments.

Norway is a bit of an anomaly in Nordic terms. They share a lot of the same social democratic values but the oil and gas gave them a shortcut to prosperity without the need to develop a diverse, modern economy.
I expect the Arctic drilling comes in because they're largely stuck in that rut. At least for a while yet.
But a hugely retrograde step IMO. | |

You've not really bothered to think conceptually about their point.
For instance:
If the pass rate for the same exam is 50% in the UK but 80% in Sweden and the UK has better absolute numbers of passers for the same number of students that doesn't mean that the UK is better than Sweden for this exam. You need to weight the absolute value by the rules for that country.
The same is true of the crime statistics you are citing. To not do that is disingenuous and frankly unhelpful. It's a problem which is ever-growing in today's world.

I doubt he'll win any seats this time around either but that wasn't the point that was being made. Brexit candidates standing against Tories will split the leave vote in those seats and Farage pulling out his candidates can only be a help to the Tories in those seats. | |

DK your view on the world is summed up as the UK is a hole where we all live a terrible existence with fighting crime daily, no jobs, no healthcare, no education, no transport, no democracy and basically no hope. Yet a few hundred miles across the North Sea to Scandinavia the world is wonderful and we should all aspire to live there in this wonderful socialist utopia.
How much of your adult life have you lived and worked in Scandinavia I would be interested to know? And why on a very simple level do so many want to come and settle in the UK when they could just apply or try to get into Scandinavia?
You are really such a bore because for the majority of us living in the UK it’s actually a great place to live and I do not have any inclination to want to live any where else in the world even with our dark winter days and not great weather.
