This really is going to be the worst election in memory isn’t it? 13:48 - Nov 12 with 21096 viewsC_HealyIsAPleasure

The Tories campaign basically amounts to being ‘Not Corbyn’, getting Brexit done plus lots of promises which almost certainly haven’t been costed and won’t be delivered

The Labour campaign amounts to being ‘Not the Tories’, maybe getting Brexit done plus lots of promises which almost certainly haven’t been costed and won’t be delivered

The Lib Dem’s campaign amounts to being ‘Not the Tories or Labour’, abandoning Brexit...and that’s about it?

Then all the small parties (plus SNP but no one other than Darth cares about Scotland)

I know it’s early days yet but that’s pretty much it isn’t it?

Perhaps if you thought more about the policies and the needs of the country then you would find it a "better" election? Certainly a more important one.

You seem to be reading the election at a sub-tabloid level.

The Op isn't exactly on his own in thinking they're all a bunch of sh1theads. Its a perfectly respectable political position right now.

I'm surprised people are so casual about what's been happening over the past decade. Looks like we have the politicians and media we deserve.

no - we deserve a credible opposition and we don't have one. this awful government should be history - but they're up against something worse. that's the utter tragedy of this election.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

How pastaurising!

I get you're on Labour's side, but others have looked at them properly, considered things and come to the conclusion that they're just a bit crap. For all sorts of reasons too.

*I'll vote labour myself as I have a decent local MP luckily

You've no need to worry about the outcome of the election, as whatever the result Facters' Benevolent Dictatorship will take over in a bloodless* coup.

And I can confirm that you're not on The List, so you'll be spared the re-education programme.**

The funniest thing is that people are arguing over Labour and Conservative, two parties that lost all meaning a long time ago!!

Your third line is not accurate, the only leaflets I have had through my door so far are from the Lib Dems and they make (good) points on environment, education and the NHS for most of the material. You cannot blame them for ridiculing Boris Johnson and Corbyn (as well as marginalising Farage), it is after all what they deserve. I have not voted Lib Dem for years but Swinson coming straight out with a policy of revoking Article 50 (which the latest comprehensive polls show is what the majority of us want) shows them living up to the democratic in their name with an uncharacteristic boldness. They have my vote so far.

And it's not just Darth that is concerned with the SNP but I might be coming at things from a different direction to that poster. A Lib Dem whitewash would be refreshing, and providing we could be sure that the Army and the Police would back them up in the event of major civil disorder, the reboot necessary to bring the Brexit debacle to an end. Perhaps even more importantly it might be the last chance to keep the United KIngdom together. What a shame it is unlikely to happen.

On a slight tangent, the campaign has only been going for a few days and I've had three Conservative leaflets through my door so far.

Second correcting the mistakes in the first and the third correcting the mistakes in the second?

I suspect you'll get one a day until 12th December from the Tories if that is the case.

Over the years, I think we've dropped the ball on giving the country a socialist/social democratic balance to the neoliberalism that seems to have become so entrenched. So a package of social policies and investment commitments is badly needed.

Brexit also needs a sensible, balanced resolution that drags us back from the cliff edge.

That points to Labour. And even to the LibDems by default if it does anything to reverse the frankly awful rightward track the UK is on with the Tories. They have been consecutively the three worst Prime Ministers and governments we've ever had as they move further and further away from reality.

The lie that they're each as bad as each other is just that - a lie.

None of the campaigns are in full swing and won't be until the manefesto are published. All sides are currently aiming their comments at their base support.

The biggest problem they face is that few people will change their minds as a result of positive campaigning. Any movement is likely to be based an errors made, elections are there to be lost if you are not careful.

A sad state of affairs.

That’s your view on the merits of the parties, but it’s also completely irrelevant to what I put in my OP though

You also seem to have no idea what the difference between an opinion and a lie is

And unfortunately, no party being able to offer a remotely credible campaign looks likely to at best result in another hung parliament, or at worst a Tory majority and another few years of their government
