Apologies for leaving your post there unanswered but real life intervened. In all the times I've seen you mention this survey, I've never understood why it matters so much to you. 'Something's in the news, people notice that shocker' doesn't appear relevant to how the Labour Party deals with cases of antisemitism. Sobs about unfair reporting smack of 'look over there : they're worse' but I thought Labour was meant to a little bit better than them, so expected more. |
It matters because people are bandying around wild and dangerous accusations that Corbyn and Labour are an existential threat to Jews. Or that he is an anti Semite and antisemitism is rampant. But that’s somehow seen as OK given the grossly exaggerated perception of the problem that has been uncritically shaped by the media and social media.
Doesn’t that bother you? Especially as this is being driven by politics.
I think it’s utterly shameful and scummy to exploit a community’s fears because a party leader is a bit to the left or criticizes Israel.
Dismiss it if you want but wasn’t it you who was talking about your fear just a few months ago? I think if you actually read these reports and looked at the other viewpoint in a bit more detail then you might feel better and more reassured. And certainly we can discuss from an evidence-based perspective rather than going from one GB editorialised smear to the next, which is utterly pointless. |  |

Honest question, do you think the Conservative Party are "engaging with people in the centre"?
My view is that the electorate seems generally significantly right of centre and Brexit has shifted it there. I get the idea that in our electoral system more parties on the right might split that vote but we currently have LibDem, Green and Labour all with significant support on the left or centre whereas Brexit Party has formed a loose alliance with the Conservatives on the right and there is no other party right of centre with significant backing. |  |
