I'm not a switch user so cannot advise you in that sense, however from a quick google, it seems like there's a few bundles with one game for £299 on Amazon or Currys do it with Mario Kart which is always good.

If they are wanting to connect it to a tv and play it on that screen then make sure you get the standard switch and not the lite version which is around £80 cheaper.

It isn't a credit agreement as such either, so it might give you more scope to get a few of the accessories to bolster up the original purchase while lowering the over all upfront cost.
