Pep seems to want the league on a silver platter 13:18 - Dec 9 with 2599 views | StokieBlue | https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50707809 Pep Guardiola says Manchester City "might not be able to compete" with the best teams in Europe and have to "accept that reality". Cannot compete indeed. Pretty ridiculous thing to say given the squad they have, the money they have and can spend and the youth players they don't promote (Foden, Sancho etc). Just look at Leicester to see what a nonsense it is. Was quite funny seeing a pacey and young Man Utd forward line absolutely destroy them for the first half on Sunday though. SB

Pep seems to want the league on a silver platter on 13:33 - Dec 9 with 2564 views | Ely_Blue | I think Gary Neville summed up why they have been so much more vulnerable this season when he said that it’s not just the back 4 but it’s the lack of protection that the back 4 has in front of them that has caused problems

Pep seems to want the league on a silver platter on 13:40 - Dec 9 with 2544 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Think the headline was a little bit misleading; "That is the level we face against Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus. They are the teams we have to face and the reality is maybe we are not able now to compete with them. "Maybe we need to live that as a club to improve, to accept the reality now and improve."

Pep seems to want the league on a silver platter on 13:42 - Dec 9 with 2536 views | wkj | I would almost put money on the fact that the board of Man City would prefer a CL win and not care where Man City placed in the top 4, possibly even outside of it.

The same Man Utd everyone previously had said weren't any good and weren't having a good season? SB

| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Rogers is a very talented manager, so too is Pep. It is much easier to be in the position of the over achieving team though. Man City have really been quite poor this season by their standards, and I think they will kick themselves for letting Liverpool sign VVD when they knew full well they needed to prep for Kompany's exit.

Pep gave some context, which was removed by the headline writer, as context didnt make a good headline.

Pep seems to want the league on a silver platter on 17:50 - Dec 9 with 2381 views | ITFCBlues | The most overrated manager in football EVER. Imagine spending 700m+ and being this far behind Liverpool and potentially only winning 2 league titles out of 4. He's done no better than the previous managers that have been at City and is a failure in Europe. He will spend another absolute fortune in January/Summer next year. Unable to coach players, he attempts to buy the best players in every position with a fairly average success rate. He was extremely fortunate that he inherited the likes of Fernandinho, KDB, Aguero and Kompany.

With that Manager infrastructure and money Citeh really should be right up there with Juve Bayern and Barca. Who could have guessed spending 200m on left backs but not replacing Kompany would be a bad idea?

Only by a few uneducated people who were unable to put things into perspective. Reality is, he needs an open cheque book and best players in the world. Almost manager would be capable of winning 2 our of 4 league titles with the squad he's had

Really, until Man City win the Champions League, their owners wont see pep as a genius. A lot of people hail pep as a game changer for Man City, in many ways he is, but 2 other managers have won the Premier League with Man City in recent years have they not?

Exactly that. He's achieved nothing that any of his predecessors haven't already done whilst spending an absolute fortune in the process. Massively overrated

Pep seems to want the league on a silver platter on 10:11 - Dec 10 with 2122 views | rickw | I think he's sending a message to those above him for allowing Man Utd to outbid them for Maguire in the summer, and telling them if they want to win big competitions they'll need to spend whatever it takes to get a new centre back in. They also have the issue they're at their maximum number of non home-grown players, so either sign a home-grown player (they've been linked to Ake today) or sell Otamendi which Pep may or may not want to do.

Agree. Imagine spending 700m and not winning the title every season or even reaching a CL final. Have they reached a semi final under him come to think of it. When did he last win a CL? He's done no better than his predecessors and that's a fact. There really is no other counter argument. Hes judged on PL and CL titles

Strange fact, he's won the Premier League the last 2 seasons with record points totals, none of his predecessors won it more than once. He's just a rich man's Paul Hurst ;-)

How many of his predecessors won back to back titles or got 100 points in a season? Asking for a friend.
