PL developing hallmarks of MM 21:32 - Dec 10 with 2863 views | Keaneish | This last month, apart from a few 45 minute displays aside, has been woeful. What’s worse is that PL seems to be developing the same hall marks of one of his predecessors. There appears to be a belligerence developing toward the rotational system even though it’s clearly becoming farcical. Team selections are even more difficult to predict than they were under MM. Why does that matter? Continuity is key to success. Pre-match interviews have become tired and difficult to watch. The football has become disjointed and shot shy and as bad statistically as we’ve had for a while. Cup competitions are treated with as much contempt as they ever have been. All in the football has been better at times but PL’s stock is plummeting, there’s no two ways about it.

If he hadn't reacted to the fans that were criticising him, he probably would have remained our manager until ROI came calling wouldn't he?

PL developing hallmarks of MM on 22:07 - Dec 10 with 1896 views | Coco | We have no identity. Lambert has no identity! We went down playing a certain way as Lambert said it was important to have an identity running through the club. This has been totally abandoned! We were rock bottom in the Championship and he was splitting the centre halves!! Paul says football has changed. I think any manager who says this sort of thing is reactionary and a trend follower. I bought into the philosophy he was selling early on but he has lost his way and now just crossing his fingers and hoping for results. Dreadful.

PL developing hallmarks of MM on 22:19 - Dec 10 with 1828 views | haynes_toe1 | Let's be honest, I and a few others called it at the start of the season. If we get promoted (which I believe we will) it will be in spite of Lambert rather than because of him. Unfortunately some of our fans went way overboard with MM to the point that rather accept they were wrong and Mick was right, they double-down in pure Johnson/Corbyn style and spent most of this season telling us how much better the football was to watch. I tried pointing out after our first or second match that we played far too much long ball but was shot down and called a few select names.

There is literally no comparison.... on 22:45 - Dec 10 with 1704 views | Bloots | ….Lambert is a total fraud of a manager. Mick saved us from relegation and stabilised the team. Lambert isn't fit to lace his boots. I heard Mr Burley slagging off Lambert to Mr Butcher before the match, but what would he know eh? [Post edited 10 Dec 2019 22:47]

I don't think his competency was ever in question though. Even i'd raise a glass to Mick and say his was very competent. It was his other short comings which sadly be came unbearable. Lets see how that fairs in comparison if we get another 4 weeks of rotation though!

What would be acceptable then?? You think we should win every game?? Promotion is the target this season and we're on course to make that happen

I agree but you cannot deny we’ve been losing momentum since the October international break? Our home record is mid-table at best, we struggle to create chances and are leaking goals at the other end.

Fair and Unfair (and Skuse must go) on 03:05 - Dec 11 with 1444 views | ScottCandage | I get your point. The club seems to going back to MM form insofar as we are getting minimal shots on target. This is an MM hallmark. However, and I have said this countless times, we need LOTS of coaching to get the "be defensive first" out of the team. I don't think PL has done that yet. And after a year, that is on him. This team should be PL's now. We should be a much more forward team. And I think PL wants this. But when in doubt, the players play a negative game. Like MM wanted. We deny. We don't attack. And it's PL's fault that we still play like this. The MM effect should be LONG GONE. But it isn't. This is Paul Lambert's fault. Sorry Paul, at this point, if your players aren't playing your game, sit them or get rid. I blame the formation and the presence of Cole Skuse. I think Skuse is our best player. However, when your DM is your best player, you play to HIS strengths. Which are what? Control, protect the defense. He does that REALLY well. But that cannot be the focus of a team. And I'm betting that PL feels the same. When it is (and let's be honest, it has been for three years or more), all you do is deny the opposition chances. If we want 46 0-0 draws, Skuse is your man. We need to get rid of Cole Skuse. And get rid of the negative thinking. I'd rather be searching for a 3-2 or 3-1 win and lose the odd game than searching for a 1-0 win (and if we don't score, a 0-0 draw, which would give MM a stiffy.) Flynn Downes gives us everything that Skuse can, and he will get forward. Andre Dozzell also seems to be more comfortable at the back of the midfield (lord knows why, but it is what it is), but has the creative streak to get forward. But we tend to focus our system on our best player, a DM (Skuse), but he can't even play a flat 4-4-2, the most basic formation in soccer. Because if we have Skuse, our best player, in the team, he doesn't fit in a flat 4-4-2. He's not a CM, he's a DM. We have to adapt to a 4-1-3-2, or a (coughcough) 4-3-3. Notice how the midfield always has 3. And we wonder why we get overrun in midfield and can't provide proper service to the strikers. Cole, shut up and learn to play a proper CM. (And, BTW, why don't we have proper chalk on the boots midfielders to play a 4-4-2? Seriously, it's the most basic formation in soccer, and Ipswich can't play it, and hasn't been able to for YEARS, because we thought we were a Premier League team and recruited specialists for a game we NEVER should have been playing. My kingdom for a proper LM and RM - we don't have ANYONE who can play those positions, everyone is a forward winger, not a proper LM/RM.) What does Skuse offer? He possesses and protects the defenders. This is good. Does it score goals? No. We need goals. We need to get forward. But our best player doesn't do that. Sell him. Now. Let's more forward. That rather ignores the trajectory though doesn’t it? First 14 games - 10 wins, 0 defeats Next 13 games - 3 wins, 4 defeats If we get back to winning ways shortly then great, but surely even the biggest cheerleader has to acknowledge that recent form is a concern?

I don’t necessarily disagree that it’s time to start phasing our Skuse, but it’s worth noting he’s been a player often rotated out during the recent run 4 starts in our last 9 for example (1 win in that time) - so it’s not like we’re flying without him
