1.3 million for Lee Martin is the football equivalent of a war crime.

Westcountry Read the below - just an excellent and I believe accurate account account of Micks Town tenure (which ended even earlier than the account suggests) https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/mar/29/mick-mccarthy-leave-ipswich-man It confirms your point, that I’d agree with, that Marcus just needed to provide funding at that critical time and Mick would have got us to the promised land. Of course it highlights the point that Micks pragmatic style did not progress, and his attempts to play more fluidly didn’t quite come off, and the handbrake was put back on after the Reading defeat. A critical point for Mick and Town. Now as I have stated recently if Marcus was competent and advised well, he’d know what was needed was a manager WITH a tactical system and style that was fluid, that was progressive. And we got.... drum roll.... Paul Hurst! Who was just a sh!t version of Mick. Then Paul? And none us yet have a clue what his system of play is. Buck stops with Marcus.

It’s not even right for just league games - 22/72 for a win % of 30.6%

Not only did Evans not support Mick to help cement that top two slot, he failed to support his most successful manager to build on the achievements of that previous season which in my book lead to the team stagnating. If you look at Micks signings, Cameron Stewart for example, which failed , there was always that attempt to go back to that fast paced incisive attacking football that his Wolves side had. The trouble with that is that those players are at a premium which we can't afford or you've got to go shopping abroad. I still maintain that the great and exciting start we had to that season when we beat Millwall away and thumped Sunderland at home that fans outlook on Mick wouldn't be what they became with a front line of Garner, Waghorn, Sears, McG and a midfield of Skuse, Adeyemi and Huws. Obviously things fell apart with the injuries but that would have been a footballing side.

Ah. It’s skewed quite heavily by the League Cup run in 2010/11 in that case, given the small sample size. Taking that out the % drops to 34.8% by my count I guess whether league cup games count or not is a separate question!

And ignores 2009 which skews Keane's record more positively. Looking at a win percentage rather than points per game presumably changes the outcome a bit too.
