Genuine and serious question. 17:14 - Jan 4 with 3049 viewshomer_123

How long does Lambert have? If we go through Jan without another win....surely something has to give?

At least we wouldn't have to pay him too much by ending his contract!

Oh wait.

Think he has to May; can only imagine there's a break clause in his new deal if we fail to go up.

For the sake of the club he should leave now but sadly not going to happen.

You'd think, but then you have to consider that Marcus Evans is the owner and he seems content that Lambert's 'brought the club together'*.

*taken care of basic off-field things a competent owner would already have under control.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

It's absolutely baffling. I'd say Lambert must be very convincing but he probably didn't even ask for it, Evans is that thick.

Well he is now in the position of should he be sacked, the pay off is massive, I find the timing strange given the position and form we have been in the last 2 months

He may walk ( he has done it before) but then we have yet another manager to save us

I'm not sure what is more concerning, him staying and it not improving or him leaving and we start all over again ( new manager, not his players, blah blah blah)

All that work is rapidly going to waste and the goodwill earned evaporating quicker than a chocolate fireguard.

We can only hope that the new deal was simply to try and stamp Lambert's authority on things. Perhaps it' little more than a slight pay increase and a set amount to pay him off?

Next Saturday will be toxic if Accrington take the lead.

Even the 'league 1 tour p!ss the league' divs were always going to turn when they smelled a chance of a lack of promotion. I thought the goodwill he racked up was way out of proportion with what it should have been in the first place and I think we've seen the voice of the doubters getting stronger and picking up waverers to a point where the majority view is now, if not bluntly anti-Lambert, certainly tipping that way.

It would be peak Banter Era if not and we end up sacking him at the end of Feb with full 5 years payoff

Paul Lambert - average term as coach is 1.27 years by Swansea_Blue 24 Dec 2019 14:38
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-lambert/profil/trainer/2460

So by that reckoning I make it 3rd Feb when his time is up. Who do we want next then?

According to Phil there are clauses in the contract so he wouldn't get the full payoff.

What sort of clauses is anyone's guess...Must be sacked in the first 3 days of a leap year is my guess.

Genuinely? Given Evans previous M.O.?

If we don't go up this year Evans will bankroll it for next season and then Lambert will get til mid October.

If we don't go up this year or next, Evans will cut the wage budget.

Think that was speculation from Phil re how these things are usually structured rather than anything concrete, but yes you would assume so

Still, you’d have to assume his new contract makes it more expensive to sack him that the old one does

This is covered elsewhere but there will be a break clause for early termination and no payment or reduced payment.

Evans has planned ahead based on staying in League One next season and focusing on steady the ship.

Do you reckon? I'd hope not. We now he's not an adventurous chap be that'd be the equivalent of the mindset with Mick, but in a league lower and eqaully as likely to go the same way.
