Needed, Deserved. 01:19 - Jan 12 with 5262 viewsMrTown

Thought by far and away our best performance of the season. Same system, same personnel but a slight tweak in approach.

Thought we were sensational first half, blitzed Accrington and should have been 5-0 up, but I’ll take 4-1 to stop the rot.

Thought Downes and Huws were very good, as were the front two once again. However the stand out players were Woolfenden, Chambers and Judge. Incidentally after implementing the overlapping centre backs, both Chambers and Woolfenden got assists today, fantastic!

Alan Judge though, what a performance. Has wrongly been put out wide for too long, not his game anymore but in that no.10 role, he’s too good for this level.

The way I see it is that some posters have been calling for the sort of setup that we saw yesterday but Mr Town regularly has a go at those doing so. As yesterday resulted in a win I can only conclude that Mr Town is therefore the one that doesn't want us to win and that is why he attacks those that seek positive changes

12 points still to play for in January on 10:01 - Jan 12 by Funge

Hello Dyllers.

That's really the point, isn't it? Looks like we were terrific in the first half yesterday, and a good result against Oxford would go quite a long way towards helping forget the absolute dross we've endured over the last two months.

Indeed. I personally wont give a hoot about the last couple of months if we have a decent January. Our last league performances have given us a deserved four points, and you can't say our first eight or so results were because of us being any good, we won largely because the oppo were hopeless. A handful of exceptions of course, like Tranmere, the first half against MK, and last twenty or so minuted against Wimbledon e.g.

All I can do is support the team as I always have done. Doesn't stop us passing opinion when we are not creating anything and playing like strangers game after game after game. Fair dos maybe Lambert has sorted it out. I don't know and don't much care if it's by luck as much as anything, that's football and all managers benefit or get cursed from the ups and downs of chance.

All I care about is ITFC getting promoted, so credit to all for yesterday's sterling showing. Typically I couldn't make it... maybe I'll stay away :)

Lambert is wrong saying anyone wants us to fail on 09:28 - Jan 12 by Herbivore

Yep, agreed. Nobody wants to see us fail, we all want to get out of this league at the first go. Yesterday was a good performance and a much needed three points, but it will count for little if we don't build on it. From here on in we need to be maintaining that level of performance if not improving on it.

I think people like PL forget that followers of a football club are in it for life, while managers and players come and go. People questioning whether he knows the difference between a team and a teapot is not ‘wanting us to fail’.

In some ways I’m pleased he has a long contract for the clubs stability, but I’m a bit mystified by it. Given the start, we should have gone on and dominated this awful league. But with all those games without a win, there is every right to challenge Lambert.

I hope he has stumbled upon his best team and set up now and sticks to it to give us our best chance of kicking on and getting out of this dreadful league.

I don’t think much that you have been saying over the last few months has been remotely beneficial.

All you have done is consistently beg for the manager of ITFC to get the axe, a incredibly tedious approach of the last few months.

Now it’s time to sit in the corner in silence.

Glad you recognise a few of the posters on here that know what they are talking about.

It also seems that Lambert has finally taken advice from those that are a bit more tactically aware than him.

He’s been banging on about a 3-5-2 formation with overlapping centre backs, can’t say I recall that part of the tirade.

You think I haven't banged a 532 drum? Go back a game or 2 before MK Dons and you will see it. I then posted about getting it right against MK Dons when we did it.

Don't go too overboard on this overlapping centre backs thing. We are being setup with that as the main tactic, that came as a result of the setup

To be fair Mr Town some of our performances this season have deserved criticism and we now need to go on a run of performances and team selections like that to get true buy in to the Lambert project.

However, I do agree there have too many on this board who have not objectively judged Lambert and almost want him to fail. Take Blackpool at home that was an entertaining and good performance. But seemed to get slated beachside fans want Lambert to fail.

We should praise Lambert when he gets it right, and the team selection yesterday was excellent, Huws was completely the right choice.

Now let’s go to Oxford and go again.

PS - one other really annoying feature of the Curtis is that they make out we should be winning every game and this league is a cake walk. So stupid. As Sunderland?! And it is so obvious that teams are playing above themselves when they meet the mighty Town.

I entirely agree, that performances were nowhere near good enough, but found it incredibly tedious for people on here been so seemingly desperate for Lambert to fail so it fitted their non-stop constant tirade against him.

It is very possible to critique the team without sounding like an individual so satisfied with us failing because it fitted their agenda. Perfect examples that there are some very level headed individuals on here such; itfcjoe, unstableblue, Jasondozzell, keanish and there was another one that I noticed who are very sound at analysing the situation.

Now onto the next one, COYFB!!!!!

Let’s try and nip this in the bud and call out these bull*hit claims now to avoid us getting into another MM divide.

Have you read the board in the last few weeks?!

The poison to the Lambert project has been very intense to the point of some almost wanting him to fail of late.

And to be honest performances such as Rotherham and Gillingham deserve a real level of negativity.

BUT we have played well in games where people have been happy to slate.

Lose at Oxford and play badly and we’re back to the drawing board.

But criticism has to be sensible and based on what happens on the pitch.
