What kind of sample numbers are you basing this question on? Just a one-off radish, or have you taken a good cross section from different greengrocers/supermarkets?
Without knowing the source data, I don’t think we can give you any kind of answer.
A bit of both perhaps? The ones sold by supermarkets are extremely bland. BUT if you grow your own you can find varieties that will nearly blow your head off.
I have noticed this too. Supermarket ones are watery and bland so we started growing our own. Really easy to grow. Can grow them in tubs inside or outside in compost or light soil and the taste is unbelievable. Some will make your tongue tingle. If you stagger planting you have year round.
