Having a discussion in my office about a moment vs Germany when England almost took the lead in a semi final. My recolection is that Gazza slid in at the back post and almost colided with the post.

I'm sure it was 1990 but he seems to think it was Euro 96. Anyone shed any light of this? Maybe it wasn't Gazza

It was Chris Waddle who so nearly scored in Italian 90 semi final vs Germany (prob West Germany then)
Would have won game and then def beaten Argentina in final... Sigh.

And Germany had a good goal wrongly disallowed before either of these things happened.

Saw interview with Gazza, he said he expected the goalie to get a touch on it so delayed his run. Keeper didn’t, he was a fraction late. What a couple of weeks they were. From the Scotland game, to that night I think the country was in a state of near hysteria and drunkenness. Marvellous.
