“Uefa’s analysts found the combined revenues of the 20 Premier League clubs, €5.4bn, was more money than the 617 clubs in all 50 European leagues below the top four.”

Depends how you measure wealth.

Do many clubs outside the Top 6 make a big profit? I'm not so sure.

The income is huge, but so are the costs. I think being in the Prem allows most clubs the dream of breaking even, or making a small profit, rather than the reward of wealth and profits.

It's all relative. You could argue that none of the 'big clubs' are big businesses because they are tiny businesses compared to say the local suppermarket. The assumption, clearly wrong is that football clubs get rich by being in the Prem. Clubs like Charlton, Bolton, Sunderland - and er Town have all been premier league clubs and no doubt will be again in the fullness of time.... briefly. Hasnt made them wealthy though. Not many football clubs make a profit...although foootballers, agents, mismanagers - and parasites like agents and betting companies clearly do.
