Half_Idiot tells us it *was* part of the manifesto.

"The Conservatives made a commitment in their 2017 general election manifesto to introduce "a new entitlement to child bereavement leave"." From the article you posted in the OP

So....did "Boris" sign up to that manifesto and work in that government? That horrible right winger who loads of people hate and call a fascist?

That god-damn fascist right winger "Boris" is at it again lads on 08:58 - Jan 23 by HARRY10 | It is the thought that the PM has the power to simply pass law as if he were Henry VIII, and the UK does not have a legislative body with due process. I'm constantly amazed at what powers the 'not too brigh't imagine the PM has - maybe why so many got themselves so upset when the parliamentary sovereignty they were told to bleat about was actually inacted. |
Talks about other people being stupid. Can't spell 'enacted' correctly.

It's oddly admirable that someone who would struggle to get the right answer on the £100 question on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? refuses to believe that he's ever got hmself confused about something and ended up misrepresenting it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Chico with An Opinion To Share reminds me of a particularly stupid dog chasing a squirrel. He's found it, flushed it out into the open and then pursued it up a tree and is now barking up said tree madly regardless of where the squirrel actually is now and how daft it's making him look. That god-damn fascist right winger "Boris" is at it again lads on 08:28 - Jan 23 by LeoMuff | The tragedy is that employers need a law to allow this, now I’ve worked for some shoddy employers but I couldn’t see any of them offering anything other than whatever the parent needed in time to get over this. |
My employer would expect you back in a week. That would be their limits on anything. Im probably not alone here either.

I’m sorry to hear that, makes you shake your head at the world that people expect you back at work after the death of your child in 5 days. I can’t imagine you would be able to do your job or even safe in some circumstances, utterly disgraceful really

Its how it is. These big companies might give it the big one on how they can help, but then they can probably swallow up the hours with man power. Smaller companies cant afford the cost. Thousands up and down the country l bet.

Tbf if you can’t perform your duties or are unsafe on your role you shouldn’t be there, forget the “cost” But yes I’m sure there are plenty who can’t take more than a week, so this will make things slightly better

You'd like to think the State would keep someone for a year or 2 if necessary following something so tragic with no pressure to make any decisions whatsoever. Grief on that scale...well, I cannot imagine.

That god-damn fascist right winger "Boris" is at it again lads on 09:39 - Jan 23 by itfcjoe | But how much time would you take? The problem is some people take the p and then everyone else suffers. A friend manages someone (Local Authority job) who is in the 6th month of bereavement leave due to her 80+ year old Mother dying. It's good that something is in place, so that even the worst employers have to do something. |
I know. It’s a really difficult one and I just don’t know. I guess it varies by individual and circumstances. For me, I was allowed 5 days paid bereavement leave, which I needed to support my dad, arrange the funeral etc etc. I was actually in the US skiing when my mother died and basically used the remainder of my leave when I got back, the bereavement leave and a few days of time owed for the funeral. In total I actually needed the equivalent of 9 working days and in truth I was glad to get back to work (and indeed did some work while I was off anyway). My sister struggled with it and took a fair bit longer. She also has a LA job and they were considerate and let her have the unpaid leave she needed. Without knowing the circumstances of course, 6 months seems one heck of a long time to me.
