That god-damn fascist right winger on 08:34 - Jan 23 with 2269 views | HARRY10 | More a case of when will yoir stupidity end ? This measure (Bill) was passed in September 2018, and was listed to come into force Jaan 2020 - which rather underpins my thought that you brexiteers have neither a clue about how laws are passed or what Parliament does. Prefering to just bleat out partisan stuff if it suggests your side is right. [Post edited 23 Jan 2020 8:41]

I agree with that totally. My experience 2 years ago when my mum died was very much ‘take what time you need’. While I was going to anyway, it was reassuring. 6 months later, a friend working for the same employer (government) had a completely different experience. Basically she was bullied and harassed - precisely the opposite of what she needed. Whilst common decency says it shouldn’t be necessary, laws like this at least provide a sort of ‘baseline’ numbskull employers I suppose.

It is the thought that the PM has the power to simply pass law as if he were Henry VIII, and the UK does not have a legislative body with due process. I'm constantly amazed at what powers the 'not too brigh't imagine the PM has - maybe why so many got themselves so upset when the parliamentary sovereignty they were told to bleat about was actually inacted.

There is literally no reference to Boris within the article, he has nothing to do with it other than being PM now it has come in to force. It was a part of May's manifesto in 2017 and received royal assent in 2018.

But how much time would you take? The problem is some people take the p and then everyone else suffers. A friend manages someone (Local Authority job) who is in the 6th month of bereavement leave due to her 80+ year old Mother dying. It's good that something is in place, so that even the worst employers have to do something.

I don't think it was part of the manifesto, it was a private members bill.
