I'm also not sure how, as a woman who is of Muslim origin, she thinks she can speak for the quinoa and avocado farmers of Latin America. Tho the creation of Empire was not based on any sort of racial ideology, more the pragmatic consideration of "where in the world is not too strong to invade"? Indeed, in many cases - most notably India - the primary drivers were trade and commerce.

The sort of articles that I used to read a good few years ago, were ones attacking vegetarians for being posers, and really, they should be vegan if they want to be all ethical about it, that was the sort of thrust of such articles.
Vegans were seen as 0.1% that could be ignored, and just used to make fun of vegetarians.
Now, I see the same articles about vegans, essentially, yeah you maybe a vegan, but if your were proper ethical you would would do x,y,z and think about this, so there.
As a vegan, I see this as progress, as well as the growing number of vegans, plant based dieters, and people that use non-diary milk.
As a non-vegan, you probably haven’t be as aware of the changing articles over the last 10-20 years, about vegans.

People tend to ask me why I don't eat meat these days and mostly have a sensible chat about it.
15ish years ago when I was first veggie I mostly got insulted and the usual cliche comments (I'M GOING TO EAT 2 ANIMALS FOR EVERY 1 YOU DON'T EAT) that these days tend to get laughed at for a lack of originality rather than being funny.
The narrative at this point is the old guard clinging onto old ideas with poor smear attacks which even most meat eaters can see through at this point. It's goooood. |  |

I'm actually moving towards telling people you're better giving up eggs and dairy now before meat itself if animal ethics are a part in wanting to change, the industries that keep animals alive to exploit them for food are often worse than those that kill them for food. | |

Yeo Valley organic milk and yoghurt
Clarence Court eggs
Organic cheese
All have much better welfare standards. Still some of the problems associated with those products but a heck of a lot better than most. | |
