Ultimately, we can't shoot and that's what will cost us. 17:16 - Feb 1 with 707 viewsTheBoyBlue

Forget the dreadful defence and goalkeeping today which isn't entirely typical of our season. And generally the possession and passing is better. But 2 shots on target from 8 compared to Peterborough's 8 shots on target from 11 tells you why they were such comfortable winners. How many times - including right at the start of this match - are we on top and yet don't take advantage of it?

I just can't fathom why people who are paid disproportionately amounts of money for being able to kick a football in the right direction should struggle so much at hitting a target as big as a goal net. Compare it to the composure Peterborough had up front - especially that third goal - and that is why they will finish above us.

But composure in front of goal costs money. Money Evan's wont stump up.

The possession is where it doesn’t hurt the opposition it all safe passing at the back then when they don’t know where to go they pump it long.

We have no creativeness or insisiveness.

We genuinely haven't consistently taken shots from distance since the Magilton, possibly Royle era. We just don't and can't do it. We generally don't attempt to make the space or opportunity to do it, and when we do we either bottle it or lack any quality or conviction. Nothing we do is off the cuff, bar some of Norwood's work.

Not being able to shoot isn't a problem, it's a symptom of a very deep problem within this club.

This game reminded me a bit of the Leeds vs Arsenal game recently. Leeds had a go in the 1st half (== our first 10 mins), but then when Arsenal decided to play, they were just too good for Leeds.

There was a 'division' gap between Posh and us today. It was the same at their place too.

God only knows how we are still in the top 6 and how we have been above them all season.

Poll: How are we going to try and undermine the manager today?

I TOTALLY agree with this, and I've often wondered the same. Football has one of the largest targets in sport. You have an hour and a half to kick the ball in this massive target. The ONE thing you're paid to do is to kick that football correctly....

so how come we have games where we hardly have any shots, let alone any on target?! How can we play for over an hour and a half and only kick the ball toward that massive target twice?!

I honestly don't remember a player we have had who was happy to shoot from distance for years. Lawrence, maybe?

We're not trying to shoot - and that's about confidence.

Garbutt when he was in midfield, Bullard, Andrews, Celina. Lankester is happy to have a pop as is Dobra and el mizouni - check their goals for under 23 - oh Rowe also for that matter.

But do to the same reason as all over Ipswich managers, we don’t like playing an attacking team .
Maybe next manager we get should be an old striker and maybe then can we try to get players who are happy to take a man on and who are comfortable on the ball. Oh and actually play them.

I can’t fault lambert for the injuries but why the first thing as a defender he didn’t do was replace chambers and get a left back to replace Knudsen/mings/cresswell is criminal. Especially for a so called brilliant ex defender. This is and always will be our problem.

Yes, but you'd expect him to be shooting and scoring anyway, playing up front or wide.

Skuse's record from midfield is disgraceful.
