Lambert once was hot property.... on 10:04 - Feb 2 by Swansea_Blue | He’s been poor since Norwich. Villa fans think he ruined them, leaving them in a right state (we don’t have to worry about that though, as we’re used to managers leaving us in a mess). A shame, as he was doing a great job at rebuilding moral in the club and in the fanbase after we were all on our knees. ME still thinks he’s doing a great job, and he may well be behind the scenes. Although ME’s judgement has been shown to be rather suspect, so who knows. |
I think that Villa spell is a bit underrated if you look at the budgetary constraints he was working under - and what followed afterwards. He's lost his mojo though

Lambert once was hot property.... on 08:23 - Feb 2 by tractorboy1978 | It was epitomised by Judge and Szmodics. The latter was going beyond the front two when one of them dropped off, Judge kept dropping deeper and deeper. |
Judge is a huge problem for us I think. He's meant to be playing as an attacker essentially but he can't run, can't beat a player, doesn't score goals, can't really cross very well, and generally passes backwards.

Lambert once was hot property.... on 08:40 - Feb 2 by itfcjoe | Decisiveness vs indecisiveness, we try and carve out the perfect crossing or shooting position but do it in such a ponderous way that it is so easy to defend against Why we have scored some good goals, but create so little. Judge slows everything down, need to get some youngsters in the team as we have crept into an old team and it isn’t working |
For all the talk from Lambert about our youngsters and having a really young side, aside from Woolfy and Downes he's really not given much game time to young players at all.

Judge looks like he's about 55. The mind is willing but the body's not able. Even his shots are powderpuff.

He is similar to Jim, that he drags the team to his performance level by being so heavily involved. But bad games were a rarity for Jim, they are becoming the norm for Judge and it is just slowing everything down - such a shame Bishop now crocked again, and seeminly made of glass. I'd rather see Dobra given a go, think it would have been perfect for El Miz as is so mobile in that role too.

Yep got to agree, it looked like he was running through treacle at times yesterday. I was hoping he was going to come good once played in his favourite position, but sadly he looks a spent force like a few other of our senior players.

Look at the team yesterday - Chambers, Skuse, Judge all old - think it had an average age of 27. Woolfie and Downes are young but they are 21, not 18-19 either - most teams we play are younger than us. The team looked old yesterday, it looked like it needed freshening up

It's just bizarre that we're playing such a pedestrian player in what is meant to be a dynamic role. It's crying out for someone like Dobra to play there and actually offer a threat. It's horrible to see, but Judge is done. He's been hopeless for most of the season when many fans were saying he'd be way too good for this level. At the minute, this level looks too much for him.

judge really has been nothing short of a disaster the whole time he's been here. yesterday the ball went to him, mis controlled it 3 times and got pushed off the ball and they broke with it. awful

What's Taylors personality around the players? He seems a bit like TC to me, a hype man. The thing is, I think that's what PL is too. The two of them together just seem like a lot of hot air.

I know one of the current squad members and I was talking to him last summer, apparently Lambo does not actually rate many of the younger players......which completely goes against all that we are being told. [Post edited 2 Feb 2020 11:34]

Lambert once was hot property.... on 08:28 - Feb 2 by bobbyramsey | Yeah, I know all about the above and whats happened this season lol but my question was what did Lambert have at Colchester and Norwich that he hasn't got now, he's obviously got something........... apart from Culverhouse? |
That was the key ... Culverhouse , he was the tactical genius and Lambert the club mouthpiece, simple as that he is NOT a good football on pitch manager !

Yeah, maybe he was doing as well as expected with the hand he was given. They’re not keen on him at all, but it’s easy to blame the manager when there are bigger problems at the club (as we well know).

He mentions 'young' in literally every single post game interview, even yesterday. Our starting line up had an average age of over 27 ffs.

If Culverhouse is such a tactical genius, why is he only at Kings Lynn Town?

He was suspended for bullying at Villa - mud sticks and I think it has with him. Look at Jim; he hasn’t managed at club level since the Buzsaky incident but his record at Championship level should be decent enough for a club side to give him a chance.

Because it takes more than just tactical knowledge to be a good manager. Maybe he is awful at dealing with people/egos as an example. It's not hard to believe a successful team comes from a collection of parts that have their own strengths that compliment each other, but when they are broken up they cannot do it on their own.

Faire enough. Well if Lambert and Culverhouse had a falling out and now won't work together there's no much we can do about that.

They were all hot property a few years before they came here. And when we broke with that tradition with Hurst we found someone out of their depth instead.

Its worth noting 4 games ago that this thread was exactly what was going on on Peterborough forum. Ferguson was clueless and only had plan A etc. Its a funny old game.. The best thing about football is how quickly it can turn. Lambert certainly has to turn it quickly.

If he's doing a better job behind the scenes, sounds like he should be director of football...
