Sajid Javid is gone on 09:28 - Feb 14 by HARRY10 | "BJ wants to get through his agenda. He was elected on his mandate and wants to get it done. " So me giving factual evidence that he isn't hetting it done is "talking about something completely different" Try lookung at the football threads where anyone claiming that Lambert was appointed to improve us, and then count the number of replies that point out how he is failing against that intent. So I would suggest you post up evidence that Johnson is getting it done. I'm sure we would all welcome that. |
I'm quoting those in Government and the BBC political journo's. Evidence of getting things done; Brexit HS2 He's re-deploying SPADS into roles best suited to their own expertise Bringing #11 closer to #10 to avoid episodes like Blair/Brown, May/Hammond There is more.......but he's only been in power 5 minutes. You might not like it, but then you ought to have thought about that when putting the loonies in charge of the Reds.
| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.

Not sure that re-arranging the deckchairs for the last 6 months qualifies as getting things done. Brexit and HS2 were already on the agenda too. Let's not confuse empty politics with actual policies.

".but he's only been in power 5 minutes 2 That is the whole point. A couple of months and so much has been dumped - even his chancellor has dumped him No border between GB and NI - there is now, and it will be overseen by the EU Frictionless trade at borders - nope, that's gone as well Go whistle for the £39bn - again an about turn, it's being meekly handed over As to not liking it I am enjoying it immensely as are other Remainers. I think that you and your kin will never be happy unless you get a hard left terror loving government. I guess you'll have to either 1) Explode 2) Suck it up 3) Move to Venezuala 4) Pipe down 5) Block me I can't help you I'm afraid. Not sure what else to suggest. We've been saved from bankruptcy. So many people are coming out telling us the JC/JM's policies were bonkers and not deliverable. Maybe you are in the very small circle who thought it might work. Javid didn't want to have his power eroded. BJ wants a closer team Simple. The chap they have in now is a very bright lad. I'd rather have him than JC.

Sajid Javid is gone on 19:50 - Feb 13 by HARRY10 | The thought is that you might even believe that old guff yourself - never mind imagining others might be similarly daft. If Johnson was 'gathering a team' then why did he offer Javid the job only to have him turn it down. As to whether the MPs he's been told to appoint are Leavers or Remainers it matters little as it is up to the EU what happens. And at this moment...they have determined that there will be a customs border down the middle of the UK, monitored by them the UK will no longer enjoy passport rights when it comes to financial services and it will pay the full £39bn divorce payment they will be customs checks (and likely tariffs) at UK ports and this is telling the UK how it is going to be BEFORE the negotiations even start - which are to be at THEIR timing as well not going ro well, is it |
The points you make represent the only reason why I voted remain. It was obvious, even before the referendum, that the EU wouldn’t give an inch. The country voted to endorse the policies of the Conservative party we will be fully out of the EU on 31st December and it will be on a no deal basis. Sorry should have said we will be dealing with the EU on the same terms as Australia, rather than Canada. You can moan all you like you won’t change anything, at least not for 4-5 years.

I agree that things do look as if they are getting centralised, but I think that he's a bright lad and has made it clear he wants very bright others to come in and tear it up. The fact that he's going to upset a lot of 'easy career' types makes me smile. GEt a better type of Gov. I do recall Blair doing the same but in a covert way. Let's see how it goes. I'm confident

If that’s how you feel then fair enough, but it doesn’t sit well with our traditional democratic governance. I don’t but the Blair analogy at all. Do you have examples of this type of behavior.? Sure Campbell had quite a lot of power, but never used it the way that Cummings appears to.

Taking back control from the courts is extremely worrying. |
A few people commented yesterday that her article looks like a job application I hindsight. All part of BJ/Cummings' planned attack on the judiciary and now they've got their enthusiastic puppet in place. As you and Sparks say, this impending attack on the judiciary is very worrying. We're moving in an increasingly authoritarian direction, which isn't good for any of us. It's not even good for those who are facilitating it; as showed by yesterday by the sacking of several cabinet ministers who'd previously sacrificed morality to prop up Johnson.

Sajid Javid is gone on 12:04 - Feb 13 by Steve_M | And yet, the replacement will be worse. At least Javid had some awareness that sacrificing the whole economy on one of Cummings' whims wasn't a good idea. That's one powerful potential Tory leader on the backbenches anyway. Sacking Julian Smith is the worst decision today, it's not as if restoring Stormont and trying to get Northern Irish politics moving again is important or anything. |
Sacking JS from the NI brief was outrageous - as one of his constituents I've not been his biggest fan, but he was by all accounts doing a first-rate job in that very difficult area, where he was very much appreciated by *all* sides - no mean feat. But JS apparently committed the 'crime' of opposing a no-deal Brexit. Clear example of Johnson putting his personal power before the good of ordinary peoples' lives/areas of major importance for the UK.

Spot on, this more than anything reveals how Johnson/Cummings care only about power and their fragile egos. The good of the country and peace and prosperity for its people don’t register on their radar at all. NI is a tinderbox at the best of times but is particularly volatile at the moment, largely because of our poodle PM and his unelected boss. They had someone in place who has actually managed to make progress and garnered respect from all sides (incredibly difficult to do) and yet, because they suspect he disagrees with them on something unrelated, they remove him. It’s despicable. And now they have Brandon Lewis ffs.

I'm not sure if pointing out the blindingly obvious is 'moaning - as for my part it is hilarious reading brexiteers trying to re-write the Parrot Sketch. As to where the UK will be on Jan 1st I would strongly suggest that it will still be in the EU as it is now BRINO, I think they call it. And I suspect that was the intent all along, As if I can be aware of the srupidity and impossibility of 'get it done' then I don't doubt who ever is behind Johnson could as well. Still, it got them elected so we have to see how long the incompetent liar lasts.... as long as he was Foreign Sectretary if he is lucky.

No! She was a fully fledged terrorist, sewing bombs into the vests of 'volunteers'. We have no idea what else she was up to when she was out there. She spoke about seeing severed heads on streets and in bins and thinking nothing of it. Let her rot where she is. As for losing the babies, there is no way of knowing this, and in any case this is irrelevant to her actions. I'm pretty confident that the vast majority of people in the country would back me on this.
