FFS - this is so irritating.
No-one is questioning his financial commitment. It's the fact that he is simply not a football man. His only reasonable footballing decision was to appoint McCarthy but all other appointments, transfers and infrastructure changes have turned this club into a laughing stock and complete and utter also-rans.
Look beyond the finances and there's a complete and utter football novice running what was once one of the proudest clubs in the land. |
Yes, but valid question remains:
Who is likely to take over? I don't see a queue of investors wanting to take us on. We have no real estate other than the training ground. So there's not any logic to any other person wanting us- other than a true fan with squillions (see a lot of those every day).
Evans has set a budget; employed managers with apparent good track record; listened to the fans and dumped McCarthy; listened again and took on Hurst - up and coming apparently.
Now he's got a manager who has been successful at both Colchester and Norwich - so logically he understands the region, the problems of attracting players to a back water club etc etc.
We are putting in infrastructure, continue to invest in youth and academy. We are starting to re-engage with the community - Lambert cares about all that - McCarthy couldn't give a stuff for fans, community or anything like that.
We have cobbled a side together from a poor Championship team. Brought in a rejected centrehalf, spent a few quid on what now seems to be another injury prone player in KVY.
We've got two injury hit strikers; another making his way back; and a player with raw pace only proven at about our level.
We have no right to be any better than we are; that we got off to a great start was fortunate. We've been found out.
No we have to be patiient; hope to get at least play-offs and go on from there.
No bed sheets for me. There's no logic in that. No one better or more able waiting to either take over the club; or manage the players.

there must be several people on here who are not a football man then.i say that as when he got keane in at the start, most were saying great manager. then after mick the census was hurst was a good decision . then i never saw many objections to lambert at the start.
i expect evans wish he had hindsight. |  |
