I've got a parking ticket saying I'm parked in a red zone... even though the parking attendant's own pictures show I'm at least 2 car lengths away from the end of the red zone (and therefore not on a red line). WTF is wrong with these people?! Do they have to issue a certain amount of tickets per day, so they just do anything to make up the numbers?!
I've challenged it of course, and taken photos of my own, but what a waste of time and stress. Just praying there's not some sort of stupid unknown rule that being NEAR a red line is the same as being on it - because obviously challenging it means the fine doubles if the challenge isn't accepted.

A mate of mine put £1 in a parking meter and did not notice that it did not register, the tow truck was out when he returned to his car, he argued that he had put money in, put another £1 in and again nothing registered but the warden was insisting the tow truck lifted the car. The tow driver joined in the argument that the meter was obviously not working and just leave it. But the warden made my mate go through the formal appeal process to get off the fine. |  | | |

I used to one of the Local Authorities in London. There was a big argument in the paper that something like 65% of parking tickets issued that were challenged subsequently cancelled.
It transpired that parking attendants DID have "sales" targets and had to issue a certain number of tickets. That didn't sit right with me. In an ideal world where everyone parks correct, how can you issue tickets?
Easy money for the Councils because many people don't want the hassle or stress of appealing. |  |

In days of yore milkmen, postmen, even those delievering bottles of corona (virus free) wore a peaked cap. And it is a little know fact that to be a milkman you had to be able to whistle.
I ecpect these rules have been brought in to stop wardens accepting a couple of 'oncers' to let the motorist off. No less annoying though.
