Interesting article in the Athletic re the divide between Championship and Div 1 finances

https://theathletic.com/1611512/2020/02/22/championship-league-one-gap/?source=s

This season Championship signings total £200 million but in Div 1 only £5 million.
Championship clubs get 80% of central funding but Div 1 just 12%.

The big gap in English leagues is between Championship and Div 1.

We need to pray we get back soon.

Yes I know - I have seen your posts about growing vegetables, vegan pizzas and your wife’s deodorants.

What else is there to say.

No sorry needed. One must learn to laugh at yourself before laughing at others. He made a very good point.

Saw that the other day.

And that's why we can't compete in the Champ - we simply don't have the money.

Does that mean we have 10% of the division spending on fees. Does it include the loan fees as well?

In real terms, the bigger chasm is between the Championship and the Prem - the budgies will win more than £100m for coming last in the Prem this season, and more than £2.4bn is paid out to the 20 teams in total.

But the point still stands, the chasm between Championship and League One is vast and growing.

Yep, which is highlighted by the fact Luton, Barnsley and Charlton are all in a relegation battle.

that should actually make it an easier league from which to escape. Assuming our crowds stay in the mid teens, we will have more resources than anyone except Sunderland & Portsmouth.

Except that the longer we stay in this league the lower the fanbase would be, and the less Evans would be willing to spend in the league.

No we wouldn’t.

We spent 108% of our revenue on wages and came comfortably last. How is that having enough money to compete?
