Any less spoilt areas of Spain, preferably by the sea that anyone would recommend? Family break, kids 10 & 12.

Fly into Murcia airport. You will need a car. Drive south for about an hour, to a place called Mazarron. It is a little gem. The kids will love the beach and the sea is shallow for a good hundred yards or so. Plenty of places for food and drink. Mainly Spanish. Enjoy.

I simply love El Peurto de Santa Maria

Brilliant

Not sure there's much to do for the kids though.

Fantastic beach.

Fly into Jerez and get a cab

Tamariu or Palafrugell on the Costa Brava...both gorgeous little towns in small bays with lovely beaches.

I would go north, San Sebastian and pop round the beaches there all along the Basque coast to Asturias. Great food, lovely people and plenty for the kids. Another option would be Costa Brava but the smaller places like Tamariu, and maybe Cadaques. Had memorable holidays with the kids when they were small at both.

Costa de la Luz.
Conil was great. Not many Brits, great food, beaches etc and cheaper than the other Costas.
Flights to jerez or Seville.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I was wondering about that area the other day. Is there much between there and Huelva? On the map it shows a large National Park. Obviously everyone knows about the Costa de Sol, but the coastline from Gibraltar to Portugal rarely gets spoken about.

I'm meeting up with an old mate in Biarritz in a few weeks time - he has only just moved there from central America, but has also said that San Sebastian was a great place to go to. What is the rest of the coastline like from there to the Portuguese border? My late teenager kids are into (tame) surfing and that is one area that I think I'd enjoy and they could get a bit of surfing done as well.

They’re 10 & 12, my son is footy mad, although he still supports Ipswich!

Only been once (last year on motorbike)

The Picos mountains are amazing if you love mountain roads. The coast roads were good too, tbf.

A mate moved there and he says it is struggling with depopulation, but the upside is that it isn't overcrowded unlike the costas.

Also, it actually feels Spanish (Basque and Galaician) unlike the costas which can feel like Blackpool on sea at times. North Coast is unspoilt in comparison. Can't understand why more people don't head there.

Completely agree, Asturias really is an unspoilt gem. Galicia too but the trade off there is the weather. The Asturias official tourist site has loads of photos and locations to explore, Somewhere I go back to every few years and always find something new.

Was in between picos and coast last summer, great area with loads to see, weather was quite changeable, and generally quite busy though. Been to Galicia many times and and it is always great, quite quiet and not many Brits. Area around Noia and Porto do Son (think its called that) is my favourite.

Menorca is beautiful, a limit on the number of floors in any building so there are no high rises. Nice laid back vibe with some stunning beaches and villages

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I was in Huelva just under a year ago, the outlook towards the coast is very flat and waterlogged (and there is a massive overhead walkway that is a remnant of a Rio Tinto Zinc scheme to ferry stuff from the shallows out to deeper water), much of the coast that I saw from the bus coming over from Portugal looked the same and no evidence of any resorts.

Huelva is a decent place to while away a couple of days (for an adult) and easy to get a bus to Seville Airport from there.

Right next door to that is Aguilas, which is pretty much a normal working town with a few prviately owned villas and a big old beach which we had pretty much to ourselves, and at siesta time actually to ourselves.

Also, La Herradura which is about 40 minutes drive East of Malaga, lovely little bay with a few bars and restaurants, and again a few villas and a campsite but none of those big hotels. Most of the holiday makers there are from inland Spain. Lovely spot.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

The La Manga Strip on the Mar Menor near Murcia is good. Staff almost refuse to speak English there (perhaps because it is close to quite a few golf resorts).

The strip itself is on a spit so you can walk across to inner shallow warm sea one side about 100m to the Med the other side.

Nice new airport there as well: https://www.corveraairporttravel.com/

I know Mazarron well, been going there for about fifteen years on and off. It’s a place where a lot of Spanish flock to in the summer for their own holidays. It’s strange as two months later - late September / October many places close for the winter.

Lots of very quiet beaches just outside of Mazarron as well.

To be fair I didn't wander about much so I can't really be of help.
