Huh?

We didn't exactly pay much for him? Evans hardly has a history of selling players cheaply.

He's got 6 goals in 25 appearances. He's hardly banging them in.

True, I wouldn't mind a massive lump like him in League One though!

I think if anything highlights the gap between League 1 and the Championship it's Kieffer Moore. Scores for fun and is a right handful in League 1, but doesn't really look a Championship player.

Sold for peanuts? What was our loss on this one?

Whilst admittedly he might be useful here now, I'm not sure any of us envisaged us being where we are now when we sold him.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Can you imagine the furore if we'd kept hold of a player when we were midtable in the Championship because he might end up being handy in League 1?

To be fair, he was dreadful for us.

He was nowhere good enough for us at the time. His record in the Championship backs that up. Should we have kept him for 18 months in case we got relegated?

He was bought for 10k and sold for £2.5m after playing 11 games for us and never scoring for us.

For all of Marcus Evans faults, and there are certainly a list of them, selling players on the cheap isn't one of them. In fact, he tends to do very well when it comes to the selling side of the business.

Was it that much? Thought we sold him for £750.000. Didnt realise we sold him for 2.5 million. Christ!

Even £750k is a pretty tidy profit.

Was £750,000 plus another £175,000 when he moved on to Wigan, minus whatever Forest Green's percentage of that was. He cost us £20,000, according to MM.

Indeed, on a player that barely featured for us and who wasn't - and probably still isn't - a Championship player, you'd have to say that was canny business.

Not having a dig at you but I don’t understand why people say that they want a ‘big lump’ upfront Which will basically mean hoof ball.

However there are a lot of footballers in the diviosn with no better record who are considered to be good strikers as an example wiki shows Daryl Murphy put in 207 apperanced for ITFC & scored 61 goals, 27 of them in one season.

My problem is the tendency to hoof it long when we don't have the players to make that style work. Moore is probably a decent League 1 player, but when he was here, we had higher aspirations and I don't remember many complaining on here.

As with managers. Because they haven't been/ have been successful somewhere else, means they will be/won't be a success with you.

Murphy played out wide for a large number of those appearances in his early stints here and his goal average over that run of games is still better than Moore's.

Rather like Jewell, Lambert's last successful stint as a manager was 6 years distant when we appointed him. Might as well have gone for Ian Holloway - at least the press conferences would have been entertaining.
