Let this lad loose and let us see what he can do.

Impact sub at moment for me - especially in a 4-3-3 if we go that way

Poll: Ladapo or Hirst to start up front against Peterborough?

I'd personally start him alongside Sears,.

Fleetwood won't have planned for him and it'll lift the crowd.

Keane is in poor form, offers very little at the moment and if Simpson was out of his depth, Keane comes on at half time with a point to prove and wanting to win his place back.

Might get the best out of one or both of them and unearth a gem.

However, Lambert doesn't think like that. We'll likely be 2-0 down on 87 minutes when he brings Simpson on.

Not yet, Keane is a better player.

Would like to see him get more minutes, but not a start.

Keane's not in poor form. Sure, we need to get him the ball more often and get midfielders up to him. But he's been decent and so has the team whenever we play through him.

I have no problem with Simpson coming on off the bench though and having a go at tired defenders. But no sense putting him out of his depth at the start of the game and seeing what happens. Doesn't sound great for him or the team's development when we still lack familiarity and understanding in attack.

He's only a homer though

You wanted him at CB a few minutes ago. He can't play both.

Any chance you can let us have an address of that non-plussed drum roll you use every now and again?

Not from the start yet but it would not surprise me if we see Dobra in from the beginning tonight.

I agree with your plan but unfortunately Paul's substitution tactics don't align with ours.

He did look quite good in his few minutes on Saturday though so maybe...

You didn't see Keane's assist for the goal on Saturday then? Or his run and slide rule pass that Downes should have scored from?

I'd like to see Simpson come on if we are struggling but no way should he start instead of Keane.

A couple of great bit of support play that; that seems to be more his strength than being an out and out striker/goal scorer. He should be a real asset next season once he's got a full closed season under his belt.

And we need goals.

We need someone to start hitting the net. Keane is a great foil for someone but this is a must win game.

Players like Simpson often get a goal or two in their first few starts and go on to be a great player or fade away. But that initial desire and belief could be what we need and what Keane doesn't provide right now.

Agreed. He is a class above this level when fully fit and utilised in the right way.

I,d play Simpson anywhere if that meant we took a chance of having a better team out there. Powerful and fast on his feet, yeah, stick him in defence..The problem is that we have such little choice at this club it always reverts back to the default option. The same ol faces who have achieved nothing season after season.
