Those calling fo Warnock 15:08 - Mar 5 with 6233 viewsTerry_Nutkins

Anyone brave enough to say you were a Mick outer? He is as.close to Mick.in his approach as it gets! Not a bad thing in my view as Mick is very good at what he does. Make no mistake though it would be ripping everything up and starting again with very direct and basics right, in your face football. Warnock will get resuilts. My view is if we go for him its 3-4 games too late as he is an impact guy. He probably has 2 seasons left in him and any new manager would then struggle to make the adaption back from direct football (Like post Mick). It's a super short term approach.

I would love us to be brave and stick to a plan! It looks almost certain Lambert has failed this season. But he does care and he does have a decent football brain (contrary to what some think). He's desperate to build something sustainable. I know i'm in minority and if he goes it is justified but the replacement should be progressive or I only see at best short term bounce.

I really don’t care who is the Manager.
I don’t care how old they are, what their ethnic origin is, what sex they are or their sexual orientation.
The style of football is irrelevant. It could be similar to the John Beck Cambridge team or Wimbledon of the 80’s.
I’m just tired of being cr@p.
All I want is to go down to PR and know that we are likely to win far more than we lose and maybe, just maybe, be challenging for something at the end of the season.

Jesus.

Warnock is a more attacking version of Mick. He makes his teams solid, organised and nasty, which is what you need in this division, but they also carry a goal threat and have a Plan B, which Mick rarely had.

Warnock is also a feisty old goat but never would he disrespect his own fans. He's a proper old school manager that people love to hate, but players and fans of his teams love.

Look at what he did with Rotherham. Phenominal. Look at what he did with Cardiff. Excellent.

He's a manager with two very recent successes who hasn't lost any of his magic, unlike the managers we tend to appoint - Jewell / Lambert.

Yes we won't be Brazil under Warnock but we would be all the things we need to be to get out of this division, which we'd all take.

Ironically, McCarthy would be a great appointment for us now (if he'd never been here before) and I wanted him out desperately.

Warnock would have been a great appointment in August or even last month, but unless he's going to do the whole of next season, it's pointless now.

When did Warnock last fail and get driven out having fallen out with all concerned?

Because MM did the same at wolves as he did here.

I thought the football was much better now though? Or is that the match day experience? I get confused.

Possession stats are up I think so that is good news...apparently.

Personally I would rather have a lot less of the ball and win somewhere like Derby (often)than have a lot of the ball and lose somewhere like Accrington.

Maybe but they despise him more than Wolves and Ipswich put together.

Edit - I don't know if the fact he left makes a difference to the conversation as I haven't read the thread.

I don’t know if you listened to the latest kings of anglia podcast but stuart Watson was spot on. He pretty much has 6 very organised players and his front 4 do what they want. Think Hoilett and Mendez Lang at Cardiff. His wingers and proper wingers. Not converted to wide midfielders like Sears was under Mick

Millwall fans despise everyone other than Millwall fans. He did well enough there to get the ROI gig.

Trust me, I was in a pub of Millwall fans and to a man they hated him. I know little of Mick Macs tenure there but from memory it was something about doing average with a fantastic team which he delighted in tearing apart.

Warnock would be a bad move.

He’s too old and not interested.

If we do replace lambert and I’m not sure we will until next season takes it shape, then we go for someone with a future.

It's a theory. But i'd always rather a strategy to pot luck.

Look in international game where you can't buy a team im same way. We floundered around while France first and then Germany put long term plan in place and won tournaments. The FA implemented a long term plan a few years back and it's now bearing fruit with tournament wins at youth level and big improvements at senior level.

Investment does help though as well!

I'm being a little facetious here, but only a little. In reality there aren't many happy endings where a club that's unsuccessful on the pitch sticks by their manager and eventually the long term plan pays dividends. What you mainly see are clubs like Sheffiled United cycling through managers until they find a good one, who transforms their club and sends them back on an upward trajectory.

and Millwall.

His failure at Wolves involved taking them up and keeping them in the Prem for 2 seasons. When he left in the third season they were only in the relegation zone on goal difference, although admittedly sliding and he had failed to kick them on in at all since promotion

At Millwall he finished third in what was division 1 at the time and they were doing relatively well again the following season when he left them for ROI

Whilst he’s had a couple of PL relegations, he’s never really failed anywhere and has left pretty much every club he’s been at in a higher position than where he took over

I'm sure he'd have loved the Swansea & Cardiff fans harmonising a song about his footballing style. With the score at 0-0. Away.
