A good 4 or 5 shelves in Sainsbury’s were devoid of product last night. Shocking tbf

I did an online shop for Sainsbury's on Thurs - they were rationing some things (antibact handwash restricted to 2, which was what I wanted anyway).

Delivery was the thing tho - no slots available till tomorrow. Normally I'd have been able to find a Saturday slot, if not Friday.

We’ve just logged on to book our approx monthly slot - none available whatsoever for next 3 weeks (they only release 3 weeks ahead). Sainsbury’s that is.

The problem is that people being bellends will have consequences. If the supermarkets are getting cleaned out and you can't get an online shop it forces people who haven't stockpiled to go out to the shops regularly to get what they need daily or every couple of days. That makes it very hard for many people to effectively socially isolate and ups the risk of the virus spreading. If people just behaved normally then everyone could do their regular weekly shop, online or otherwise, with no issues.

Agree totally, but I think a problem for staff refusing to serve people with excessive stuff is the undoubted abuse they may get off the kind of people selfish enough to behave like that. Maybe an extra security guard or two? More CCTV plus consistent store rationing policy? I don’t know but there are things that can be done to control the idiots.

Regardless, I do hope that guy managed to find some paracetamol for his poor wife somewhere.

That is horrible, really horrible.

People are getting v silly now. Just saw some water bottles ripped out of multipacks. The things obviously can't be scanned individually, which means...

D'you know what, it hadn't even occurred to me that delivery slots would be all snatched up.

I'm supposed to be in for an op next week and won't be able to drive or carry shopping for a few weeks. I was assuming, stupidly, that I'd rely on that option.

Feck it, I'm cancelling the thing for now. It's just not the right time.

This is nothing at the moment. Spoke to someone who is fairly clued up and reckons martial law implemented of it carried on in 3 months time.

Same here - organic split dried peas. Whilst brilliant for protein & will keep for years, they do have a most unfortunate, err 'downside', particularly bearing in mind the shortage of bog rolls!

The 'hoarding' thread did have quite a positive influence on me tho - went to my cupboards to check for pasta & rice only to find that most of them were vintage - bbe 2017 or 2018!

Only because of the idiots but sadly the general public are stupid

If the media whip up a frenzy of panic, it shouldn't be that surprising that some people will panic and then others like sheep will follow them

Yeah, it is a best before rather than a must use by. The trouble with pasta and rice is probably that it gets harder as it ages but all that means is an extra five minutes simmering and it should be fine.
