Millwall, round about 1966 came to town and invaded SBR singing, as I recall:

"Hey, Ho, Hey, Ho, it's off to work we go
With bottle and brick and walking stick, Hey Ho etc.........."

We vaulted over the barrier that surrounded the exit, dropping down in a heap onto the steps below and rushing away under the stand. I was 15.

Not a Town game as such, but early 90s FA cup weekend, our game was postponed. Bored so went to London to find a game to watch. Went for West Ham v Wrexham. So far so good. Later that night in a pub near Liverpool st which as we soon found out was full of Milwall lads. Me and a couple mates sitting there innocently reading our west ham programmes when a loud cry of “Milwaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllll” went up. Never run so fast in my life.

When that bloke was handing out handfuls of cold lasagne from a carrier bag and we were too off it to care and had the munchies bad, probably about an hour after that incident.

Certainly put this game at the top of my list, although on arriving at the 'old Den' an hour or so before the game kicked off Town fans were giving out as good as they got in the opposite end from their mob. For whatever reasons, the local officers decided to escorted the remaining Town boys from there to the top corner of the locals end. All quite till Town scored early on and the celebrations spotted by their 'mob' kicked it off!
that's my memory!

Bizarrely after two 1-1 away draws.

Sheff Utd - 1997 first leg of play-offs. Drew 1-1 at Bramall Lane and after the game was walking back to the train station when we walked past a pub that was kicking-off. There were several police outside so the Blades fans on the street were modestly well-behaved...so me and my girlfriend were just kicked a few times in the shins.

Portsmouth away September 1999. We had McGreal sent off early on, but then Scowie had the audacity to scored an equaliser in the 88th minute and there was much taunting. After the game me and (the same) girlfriend got chased down the street by some Pompey fans but managed to get to my car and drive off before they caught us.

That was the last away game my girlfriend (who is now my wife of 20 years) ever went to and I must admit to taking off my town top after the game from that point onwards and stuffing it into my jacket

Elland Road in 1993. I went alone, had no idea where to go and walked straight into a group of Leeds casuals. Luckily they quite liked Ipswich and we had a laugh about it. I would have been in trouble had I been a fan of one of the Sheffield teams.

Same thing happened to me and my brothers at that Bramall Lane game, I was 12 and got pushed in the back and my brothers kicked in the shins. Shame they went on and beat us.

Ironically Everton at home in the 2000 season, we beat them 2-0. Was walking back to the car with my bother and heavily pregnant sister in law when a group of scousers threatened us with a knife. Luckily a copper close by chased them away but genuinely scared for a moment.

Bearing in mind I wasn’t quite 12 and me dear old dad took me from where we lived in cambridge, which was a bit of an occasion because although he loved football he was more of a golfer at weekends and I could rarely go to town games. Just remember running battles before, during and not so much after. The point in the game when their fans invaded the pitch to get at the away end then became an attack on their own fans in the seats as they couldn’t completely get to us (this was after the first goal). I was actually quite pleased when they scored at 3-0 with ten minutes left as I thought it calmed down slightly. I remember my dad saying ‘hope it just quietly stays at 3-1 now’, town then got another 3 before the end!

It wasn't really unsafe but when you are twelve years old and you and your friend have got to the ground way too early you don't expect to be surrounded by thousands of QPR fans.

We were in an almost empty Portman Road just after two o'clock and down at the corner close to the tunnel where Churchmans and the old West Stand met. Just chatting and probably did not notice them arriving, they may even have spotted us and thought they could have a laugh. Anyway, about a thousand arrived from the other end of Churchmans and a few hundred came along the West Stand, all chanting towards the other group, to converge at the exact spot we were standing at. We wormed our way out along the wall a fair bit spooked.

There have been other, scarier, times but always with an element of safety in numbers.

Lost 0-3 home to Leeds mid seventies. After their first goal our fans moved towards theirs (despite the fence in place) and I got swept along and ended up on the ground for what seemed like an age. Thought I was a gonner and could only breathe because of the step in the terraces but eventually got hauled up. Lost a shoe and had to get out of the stand to recover.

Yeah that was a horrible atmosphere. The Spurs players also kicked lumps out i he like if Arnie and Frans.

After the game a lot of the Spurs fans stopped over in Clacton on the way home and trashed a few pubs.

The Semi final at Highbury against WBA also springs to mind. After the game a large number of WBA fans came up the stairs to where our seated fans had watched the game and started kicking ten bells out of a few old boys.

That last game of the season in 1996 when we relegated Millwall last game of the season with a 0-0 draw. Millwall then decided to riot. I remember being 7 and seeing people kicking motorcycles and damaging cars in the car park behind the Cobbold.

Put me off going to football for about 3 years.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

All of those above involving Millwall, also including the game at The Den, possibly in our 67/68 promotion season when Millwall were on course to break some sort of unbeaten home record. If I remember correctly, it ended 1 -1, but the ref was too scared to award anything to us which might have given us the win. I was behind the goal at the end opposite the all the hardcore home fans & at the final whistle, they all got on to the pitch, formed a solid line across the pitch & advanced towards us. I can't tell you what happened next, cos I scarpered!

plod formed a line on the halfway but Millwall brushed them aside and piled into our end...seeing grown blokes lumping kids of twelve or so was a factor in my decision not to go to the quarter final a few years later..my mates all took the p1ss out of me for my decision..little did they know what pay ahead....🙄

Was that at the match or outside?

It started inside and it was just a case of Spurs fans trying to kick down the NS dividing fence and gate, it was looking a bit dodgy that it would hold and a few Ipswich also started booting it and I was thinking WTF!!!!!!!!!

Outside was a nightmare. Also Spurs again about two years later at home - first game of the season from memory.

At Villa Park in 1981 the night we won 2-1 and put ourselves very much back in the title race.

Just before the end of the game a load of their supporters came in to our end, it was a bit scary going back to the coaches afterwards too and I got separated from my mate.I was not personally involved in any violence but it certainly was concerning.

I was at Millwall in 1978 but I was in the end away from most of the trouble. Just had to keep quiet during and after the match and look as miserable as possible.

I missed the 'glory days' of hooliganism in the 70s and 80s, I'm not sure I've ever been concerned for my safety at a game. I was there when Millwall decided our away end seats would look better on the pitch in 1996 but that wasn't especially terrifying.
