I hope his press conference tomorrow puts some strong business and vulnerable people support in place. Although I have no idea what could be done at this point. It’s political unchartered territory.

Why can’t we just have all the info now? Or is this like a Netflix series with a cliffhanger at the end of every episode? What’s episode 3? More information about the pumps teaser?

Yes, very hard to make such big decisions and easy to criticise.

Your edit is key. Science is an approach that helps evolves knowledge. It’s never absolute in time. It requires openness and challenge by the scientific community to build confidence. Alarm bells rang for me when the government wouldn’t share data they were basing their decisions were on, so other scientists could evaluate. The public don’t know enough to evaluate the approach to this, but other relevant scientists do - when they’re excluded, everyone should ask why. The government haven’t been science-led, they’ve been almost anti-science.

They took a pro-economy stance. That’s obvious.

I genuinely wonder if Johnson, in his own naive ego, thought everything would turn out fine, Britain’s economy would be the only one together, we’d have the global Brexit bargaining chip and he’d go down a legend in history like Churchill.

Because that’s how narcissists work.

No. I think you are wrong, as for Callis I haven't really commented that much on his stance, needless to say I think he's acting like a bit of a knob. I am sure he thinks I am one too.

Over the past year or two we have had many heated arguments on here over politics and although you may disagree it's as plain as day that Callis is using a worldwide pandemic to scream like a kid.

Many in the anti Boris camp are looking at this with a greater deal of balance and it's warming to see a sort of togetherness. We are in uncharted waters and we all need to support each other, support actions directed by the government experts and deal with things like grown ups.

Boris Johnson does not lay in his bed deciding what route to take in the morning, government relies on expert advice and from day one it has been advised that things will change and move as we go on. Individuals of course can also take their own actions.

There may be time for reflection down the line but I'm frankly sick of Armchair Anarchists.

Since when was I an “armchair anarchist”?

I don’t feel anything I’m shouting about is an over reaction. Starting to think looking at the rest of the internet TWTD has a very weird echo chamber going on right now.

Where to start? Surely you have your own list of uncertain things with no clarification you’d like to know too? The info we are being fed is pants.

Business support. Feeding less advantaged when schools shut. Income support. Time frame estimates for as long as can be predicted for now. Why aren’t we testing more? Why are schools open when gatherings are banned.

I could go on.

Business support info is coming today.

Why aren't we testing more has been covered (in short, we are past the point of really needing testing, the test needed now is one to show if you've had it already, which is on its way).

Schools are being kept open as when they shut it impacts hugely on everyone and means big impacts on Health and Social care. Reducing mass gatherings is sensible as they need to be supported by services such as police, ambulances etc. no need to spread already stretched services.

Plenty of good reliable information on many of your points, from different sources if you choose to find it and read it.

I agree that the communication from the Gov hasn't always been top notch but what an utterly unprecedented situation.

I’ve addressed that it’s not a U-turn in a number if posts. I even quoted the CSA who last week said we would be moving to the next phase.

I’m happy that government policy changes with the best evidence. What on earth else would you want them to do?

You think I’m not doing that? The two aren’t exclusive.

May I add this whole “attention seeking” dismissive angle you feel the need to add is also incorrect and quite dull. I don’t enjoy spending my time getting slagged off personally by people who have contributed sweet FA to the actual information and links I posted.

You conclude what you like though if it helps you feel better. It has no impact on my life.

That's not what's happened though. The modelling changed and they acted on it. That is what you wanted.

Who is "they" exactly?

This isn't a game, to imply they are messing about or deliberately not modelling things correctly is absurd.

I did want that but still they’ve half arsed it.

They modelled on the wrong data and royally screwed up the figures I’d hope. As the only alternative is they didn’t care.

Not much has progressed or changed since Friday so far.

Should they be feeding you with constant information or be trying to actually keep the country running through unpresidented times?

They will hopefully be more transparent going forward but to be honest, making sure you have an the information so you can just criticise it probably isn't high on their list of priorities right now.

For instance, if they give a time frame estimate and is too short, when that time comes you'll inevitably say they got it wrong and is a U-turn.

Hopefully the daily press conferences will help improve the communication. I do understand you have anxiety and this situation really must not help. Perhaps in this case less information (or at least less unofficial information via Twitter might help you?). There is a lot of inaccurate stuff out there.

You’ve been using the Imperial College report to slag off the government fir getting their strategy wrong. Do you agree with the Imperial College spokesman who just said on the radio that the Government has got the timing right?

Or do you only agree with things when they reinforce your own prejudice?

Or maybe it’s just one out of a mass of companies who are making kits whole the government are choosing not to buy from, or maybe the government didn’t know this company were producing the kits.

It’s would be like a supermarket criticising a consumer for not buying bog roll from them when they went to someone else and bought it

Prem Sikka is a well known, is somewhat rabble rousing, accounting academic. I would hope that he has done his research and looked at any procurement evidence. And in a situation like this it is important for our Government to be proactive and seek out solutions rather than wait for them to fall into their lap.

I’ll address your OP if you want, the one in which you say one thing in the first paragraph about it being unchartered territory and you don’t know what could be done, then in the second paragraph you completely make a mockery by asking “is this a Netflix teaser, will we get another cliffhanger tomorrow”

You have answered the question on the 2nd paragraph by your last line in the first paragraph, but you being you can’t just leave it there can you, most people would have respected you for that, including myself
