Peter Green was a wonderful guitarist with a knack of writing good songs, it's a pity i never got round to seeing him live, he's still about but has fried his grey matter.

Sadly Peter Green had already left Mac by the time they played the Baths Hall in the autumn of 1971, as had Jeremy Spencer. Christine Perfect was there on keyboards though; what I remember most was how solid a rhythm section Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were.

Yeah two of the original members, i don't think i was there but i do remember an american guitarist, but i don't have a clue who he was. What happened to Danny kirwan i ask myself, then i realised he was dead.
Original band looked great live but I never saw them live just on tv and vids. I really enjoyed seeing Led Zepplin live in Ipswich we were all sat on the floor i went with a mate called Roger who used to cut down trees.

That's a lovely remaster with all the reverb and sustain, the fades tapering away long time. I can remember Plant pointing to all corners of the hall and ceiling as he sang 'Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh...ahh, ahh, ahh, aaaaaaahhhh'. I was standing up at the back with an old school friend banging the back of my head against those reinforced glass panels. Neither of us were in school uniform as we had been that small but select bunch of sixteen year olds that had forsaken Northgate before 'A' levels to get well spragged and hairy over the summer (and Weeley).

Fairly sure the above clip is from the Isle of Wight though, stage looks different and the observer on the hill shot is an indicator that it was filmed on more undulating ground than the road to Clacton.

That's magnificent, eric. Never seen it before. Bought 'Darkside' a couple of days after it came out from a shop in The Arcade (didn't carry on too long as a record store from what I remember and I think it had been a photographics shop before). Listened to it on my Phillips cassette tape player and was overwhelmed, thought 'from now on all albums are going to be sumptuous' but there has never been anything since with quite such an impact on me ( or before). It's the qualia wot does it

I'm in the strange position of hoping I do not have to brush up on my Spanish.

This man went over a lot of peoples heads with his music he was a very clever man. Your Spanish is really good i thought you're too modest. i've spent a lot of time in Germany but i'm really rubbish at it.

I remember reading an interview with Andy Summers where talked about the party where he met Gordon Sumner, they were playing some reggae in the kitchen and the young Geordie had never heard any before. This was just before they formed The Police.

But what could they have been listening to?

I seem to have got stuck in 1971. A couple of years later I was at a fancy dress party at the old student place at the side of the Civic College car park, the one black girl in my girlfriend's class brought along her Dandy Livingstone singles and we all complemented her on her Sunday School teacher costume. She got a bit stampy foot because she had just come along in her normal going out clothes. But she did look immaculate.

Thinking about it, a party in South London, the mid Seventies, they were more likely to be listening to something like this

Hmmm, someone who claim to be a psychiatrist who turns up in a boat, it's not a moped but I am still suspicious

In the Seventies Clacton had an ace ghost train, but is was nowhere as scary as Reg Brown's...

Mogwai were due to come all the way out to Skye and play the local Arts Centre next month, now that Nicola has said Johnson was allowed to say what he has said that looks to be a non starter. Oh well. I shall stay indoors and imagine it is 1971

Gonna have to leave The Analogues unwatched for now I am afraid., feel the need to bury myself in serious Storyvilles and Panoramas off the iPlayer for the moment.
