It’s not surprising though, you can see on here the mental gymnastics people are doing to try and justify going to work.

Yes it’s crap staying at home, yes it’s inconvenient and devastating for some but that’s the sacrifice we’ve been asked to make. No one is saying it’s not totally rubbish. Everyone’s job is the most important thing to them and we can all find ways of justifying carrying on.

Travelling to work, even if you’re going to be alone when you get there, should not be happening.

You’ll need fuel, you could have an accident, there are infinite variables that could lead to you putting extra strain on the emergency services and/or spreading the virus.

Just stay at home people ffs.

Well put. Advice that supports our key workers and could literally save lives.

Totally ridiculous - can't believe all those people need to be going into work.

What was the justification for putting less tubes on though? Surely this was always going to be the end result?

Even if every tube only has 1 doctor on it and nobody else they still could run them.

Some clear direction on who can and can't go to work would have helped. There's no way most of those people on the tube are working in essential sectors.

They're running as many tubes as they can with the number of tube drivers available who aren't self-isolating etc themselves.

This is simply about people 'choosing' not to adhere to clear messaging and looking for any 'excuse' to do what 'they' want as opposed to do something for the greater good.

Stay safe buddy - regardless of our differing views - we are both doing our bit.

I hope you and yours are well and that you get through this without being adversely affected in any way.

Is that the case? I thought Khan had reduced the service anyway to try and stop demand - didn't think it was driver related at all.

That's what Khan tweeted this morning.... although I suspect there's an element of trying to save money as well.

We've seen over the past week that there are many thousands not willing to make sensible choices. That's why there needs to be stronger and clearer action from the government. It seems many businesses and individuals have decided that it's business as usual for now. There's very little point in the other measures when public transport remains packed and people are in work in large numbers. I'll still do my bit, but this is a shambles and those of us doing our bit will have to do it for a lot longer if we carry on drip feeding measures ambiguously rather than being clear and decisive.

It seems to me they're adding slightly tougher measures each day, and it's more about managing numptie people (easing them into it) than the virus itself.

There was nothing ambiguous about last nights message - there are no excuses about the government not being clear this morning and no real stick to beat them anymore in this case.

People are just acting like idiots and assuming it's someone else problem. This is not a UK centric problem. Up to 40% of people were defying the ban in Lombardy until the army were sent in about 3 days ago. The Italians only closed all non-essential businesses a couple of days ago as well.

Not sure it's people ignoring the rules, but the companies they work for chasing money ahead of their employee's health.

Correct he did, he said last week on local London news demand was down #% (80% if I remember correctly) and they were going to move to a Sat service possibly Sun service.

Sorry Stokie, but the messaging around work was utterly vague. Hence so many people still travelling to work this morning. Not everyone has the luxury of working from home and businesses - aside from shops, bars etc. - have not been told to shut down.

"and businesses - aside from shops, bars etc. - have not been told to shut down."

I see what you are saying, they haven't been clear about offices staying open etc. Although a lot of businesses would fall foul of the no groups of more than 2 people.

Fair enough.

I only saw the statement and not a huge amount of what followed on the specifics. Seems they need to put out a clearly definition of what needs to close. I took it to mean non-essential offices as well without really thinking too much into it.

He said unless an absolute necessity. Surely that means if you can work at home you should do, if you can't (say your job is digging holes) then you carry on as normal? I don't see what's vague about that.

People know, on an individual basis, if they're able to do their job at home or not. Some will take the piss but I think most are being sensible. Me and the missus can work at home so we both are. Hasn't even been a discussion. You can so you do.

Can we build a bridge around the ruddy M25.

It's getting stupid now.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.
