How is everyone finding the new normal? 09:24 - Mar 30 with 10480 viewsitfcjoe

I'm not struggling too much with it, family enough to keep me busy - and little work to keep on top off so managing that side quite easily

Days feel long though, hard to motivate without the distractions of going out at any point and no time pressures.

Started running again yesterday, will try and alternate between a run and home workout every day

Seems a bit harsh to make your kid work from home when he's only 7.

He was on this mornings conf call. It was fancy dress so we both wore our Dennis the Menace t-shirts, wigs, the lot.

This afternoon Rory has a long list of chores.......in addition to school work....

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Works staying busy for now - building industry but mostly client side so plenty of design/costing still going on. Mrs F WFH in the next room. 'Little F's' in their rooms most of the time. We take it in turns to walk the dog depending on who's got an 'exercise credit' available. Run a couple of times a week (evenings) as used to and shop at the same times we used to (couple of times a week for food etc).

Both myself and my wife WFH normally so that hasn't changed the dynamic too much, but obviously having a 5yr old and a 2yr old makes things a little tricky.

But the weather last week made such a difference and hopefully it will continue, as long as its dry they can be in the garden, actually quite nice spending so much time with them, although I'm sure it might change my mood if it carries on too long

Stay away from the news. I watch the 10pm bulletin and that's it.
If the symptoms have been with you 13 months its unlikely CV. Can you get tested?

As others have suggested try and set up a group amongst your friends / family on Whats-app.

I intend to focus on my Music / Books / Exercise. I am going to cook as healthily as I can.

Stay Safe

Good advice on the news. I used to have it on the BBC news channel, constantly. The missus made me restrict to one new bulletin a day, the regular ones on BBC 1.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

I'm ready to go on a trail of destruction with a sharp or blunt instrument. I don't really care which.

In all serious to my above post....

I am now working from home which isn't too bad (as I took my screen and keyboard home with me), so work wise it's not too bad.

Outside of work it's getting a bit claustrophobic.... I go running every couple of days and walk the dog round the block at 10pm, and that's it.

There's no sport to watch on tv, no ITFC, no stock cars, no watching my daughter's netball matches, no walks along the seafront with some chips at the weekend.

Makes you realise how much we take for granted that we can just go and do whenever we feel like it.

On the plus side, the projected lack of spending in April (as there's nowhere to go and nothing to spend money on) has meant I can pay off the remaining balance on my credit card, so that's at least one good thing that's come out of it.

Is it a triffid?

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Sad to hear of your not coping so well, Debsy. You are allowed to go out once a day, every day, though. I know you are probably worried about other people getting too close but my significant other goes out early morning when there are less people about. I do worry about her (we are six hundred miles apart at the moment) because there are less people around when she is on a long canal side walk (but she keeps on seeing animals she would not normally see due to the quieter surroundings now so I get pictures sent of muntjacs, nesting grebes and - bit of debate on this one - a mink or a stoat). If you have someone at home then they can either accompany you or know when you are due back.

Take care now.

I know I can go out more if I wished but I am fine with just my hours' walk once a fortnight and the town visit/walk home once a week. I find that I am becoming terrified of being near ANYONE though, and will this have a knock on effect on my mental state if this was ever over? I will still be scared if someone has it or the virus is on stuff months after this has gone. Shopping is going to be hard, as will returning to football and pubs.

I need to curb the news stuff - not really watching on the telly, but it's all over the internet. I cannot get tested - my surgery is closed and 111 would not take me seriously as not the 2 classic signs they are looking for, and even if there were, they would just say to isolate.

I am part of a couple of groups on Facebook which are music based and I interact on there a lot, and that helps me too.

Good luck to you and stay well x

Very busy with work..... I picked a great time to buy in on a business :).

As others have said find myself starting work at 6am and still going late into the evening, but hopefully this calms down a little as we have still been very busy and then trying to re-call everyone from site and deal with customers over the last week has created even more work than what would be normal.

Not getting out enough at the moment, I can go days without leaving the hours due to work and then no where to then go. Hoping when the weather warms up I can base myself in the garden a fair few days to improve on that.

I am trying not to think too far ahead in terms of us being like this for months as my mind will run away with me. Still got tickets and plans for various events in the summer, praying at least some go ahead so something to look froward too.

Good to hear others are getting on well.

I’m doing ok. I don’t have a massive social life anyway.

MrsN on the other hand.... she normally sees her friends and her cousin every week. That takes up a couple of mornings or afternoons. She’s pregnant and unable to go looking at baby stuff. She’s suffering. Acid. Tiredness. Bloated. She’s worried about previous miscarriages. She was so worried the other week I paid for a private scan and that put her at ease.

She’s not enjoying being cooped up at home.

Basically anything she wants at the moment, she damn well gets.

She’s got a scan at the IVF clinic tomorrow. Last one at the clinic before she gets handed over to the NHS. We have Seb tomorrow. She’s not keen on telling Seb. So Seb and I will sit in the car and I will say she’s popping in to work to get something. I’m disappointed to be missing it, worried it could be bad news. As MrsN is properly anxious and it’s got me. I can’t go to the 12 week scan in a few weeks as the hospital aren’t allowing partners in. It’s the hospital she works at so hopefully they will let her video call me.

All I need is good news after she goes in for the scan at 1000 tomorrow. I need that. But I can’t do anything but be positive in front of MrsN. I need her to be less anxious. I need to make her feel better. I need her not to worry. I need to make life as stress free as possible.

Struggling to be honest. And I was made redundant, which got me down a bit.

Oh well

Bit of a slog.

Me & the missus both working from home, & both very busy with it, whilst having to look after our daughter is going to become massively challenging over the coming weeks I feel.

Hopefully one, or both, of us will slow down a bit work wise but doesn’t seem likely.

I'm coping fine with being stuck at home, my biggest problem, unlike others it seems, is that my work is crazy busy with responding to all the Corona virus fall out and managing financial year end at the same time.

I'm bloody mentally exhausted tbh.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Honestly? Hating it. Both myself and my partner are front line NHS staff as is my ex wife...to that end I made the decision not to see my children while all this was going on....they are high risk due to asthma, as is my ex wife.....it's bloody awful. Between us we were coming into contact with over 100 patients a day so the risk of passing on the infection is too high to take the risk....hoping I can visit my ex's home near the end of April as it's one of the kids 6th birthdays.....

To top it all I am no longer allowed patient contact due to my high risk status so I am coming into work and sitting alone in my office with as little contact with people as possible. Unfortunately I am not able to work at home as I provide specialist support to my colleagues which means very occasionally visiting clinical areas and making assessment on patient imaging procedures. I am thinking my reduced patient contact might make it less risky to see the kids which will certainly help my mental state, but if I was to infect them it would be awful....

So yea..in summary...hating it!

I will try and remember your circumstances every time I think about how rotten it is to be cooped up at home all day.

We all appreciate the work that you and your colleagues do, even if some people forget to at times.
