Hancock threatening stricter measures 10:57 - Apr 5 with 6741 views | ThisIsMyUsername | 'If you don't want us to have to take the step to ban exercise of all forms outside of your own home, then you've got to follow the rules.' Following reports of people gathering in parks, having barbecues etc. It's the type of language you'd expect an adult to use towards a naughty child. And quite frankly the f*cking idiots deserve to be spoken to like that. TF is wrong with people.

Either that or an Ipswich Town ‘good half’.
Hancock threatening stricter measures on 11:13 - Apr 5 with 3442 views | monytowbray | Considering yesterday there were talks about a ventilator shortage coming up after we told the EU we didn’t want their ventilators (as it’s since come out from the EU minutes a British representative was in 8 of the meetings about this, so another barefaced lie from those in power), the NHS are still struggling for PPE gear (which is already killing frontline staff they’ve demonised for years) and the testing situation appears to be getting no better, we should send anyone not social distancing as well as those pulling the strings at number 10 to volunteer in ICU for a week. I’m sure everyone involved would soon change their tune.

Hancock threatening stricter measures on 11:35 - Apr 5 with 3349 views | GlasgowBlue | We have been on “lockdown” less than two weeks and already people are getting cabin fever and going out unnecessarily, which puts lives in danger. People laughed when the CMO announced he didn’t want us to go into lockdown too early as the British public would get bored very quickly and break the rules. He was spot on. We need footage in British hospitals like we saw from Italy a few weeks ago to focus peoples minds as to the seriousness of the situation. [Post edited 5 Apr 2020 15:48]

Just read that on BBC News - apparently 3000 attended the park on Saturday either sunbathing or socialising in large groups.

Hancock threatening stricter measures on 11:43 - Apr 5 with 3310 views | Vaughan8 | Until we are on proper lockdown, we are going to get these idiots just doing what they want. I know Facebook isn't a great source but my wife showed me this morning posts about people having an 18th Birthday party (25 people in a house) and pictures of people at (Brighton?) beach (absolutely loads of people on it). There are too many "I will do what I want" people, probably because they have all their life. It is a sad state of affairs and I don't want a few idiots ruining it for the rest of us. However I think that will be the case in the end.

Clissold Park was still pretty busy this morning when I went out for food. Most doing what they should be but some clearly too close and chatting to their friends. Police moving them on but they shouldn't have to. People need to take some personal responsibility. They were mostly of a certain demographic as well unfortunately. SB

That footage was available weeks ago when people still weren’t taking it seriously. Do you really believe the “herd immunity to sudden lock down because the science changed” approach was some kind of genius pre-planned tactic to ease the public into social distancing? Because all the evidence suggests otherwise.

I think they were trying to hold back the lockdown for as long as possible because they didn’t want people to start flouting it through boredom just as numbers were expected to peak - as it is there unfortunately seems to be a risk of that anyway.

Hancock threatening stricter measures on 11:58 - Apr 5 with 3243 views | monytowbray | Problem we do have however, that I mentioned in another thread, is a city with limited green space is going to see a lot of people exercise at once and therefore it’s going to cause busy footfall. Really we need an app that tells you when an area is full and disperses warnings via phone. How the hell do you manage it though? So many privacy issues in play and even then you have to rely on people to not be dicks.

I'd have had them locked in the park and left to live off squirrels and daffodil bulbs.

Only thing I can think of it is manage it like the supermarkets - have people on each gate counting people in and out, refusing entry if need be until numbers are adequate. Whether people will accept this in the same way as supermarkets is another matter altogether.

Area by area release for exercise at specific times and days.

So they made up a pretend initial plan and then winged a correct one in place intentionally? I mean, come on...

Callis, the plan has been bloody obvious from the start and consistent throughout. Leave lockdown until as late as possible without allowing the ‘peak’ to become unmanageably large. Then lockdown and hold on for as long as people can take.....which it would appear is not very long. The only slight fly in the ointment was a very sunny Mothering Sunday. The authorities may not have always been totally explicit with the public that this is/was the plan, but it was as clear as day....and they have not shifted from it.

They were always planning for a lockdown, the question was when. I think the ‘change in science’ (placed one inverted commas because we could discuss this excuse for forever and a day) pushed us into it earlier than the herd immunity approach would have done but it was always the plan to initiate it at some point.

As someone who for the last 18 months has been making a massive effort to become more social, to talk to random people in real life etc, this is horrible. I've also got cabin fever already, but I am having a bit of self-discipline (as by the sounds of it everyone else on this board is), respecting the situation, and following the guidance. I'm trying to redirect my urge to go out and socialise to find ways to be more productive in other respects. As soon as things are 'back to normal' I'm never going to take social freedom for granted again. Unfortunately that's going to be a few months at least before I can get back on track and continue working towards my academic and social goals, but it will probably be even longer if self-entitled c**tbags such as these don't stop being complete bellends. Sorry, I'm feeling a bit sour at the moment. [Post edited 5 Apr 2020 12:28]

A lot of people, esp in older age groups, don't do apps tho. Maybe some sort of rota basis according to the first letter of your surname. 12 hours of daylight atm, so As & Bs get first hour etc. WXYZs bunch together.

In Peru and Panama they are doing alternate days by gender, men can go out on Mondays and Wednesdays and Fridays, women can go out on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays. No one is allowed out on Sundays!
