His closing remarks reflect the problem we’ve had since 2001-02. Plenty of talent came through the doors both pre and post Evans, but let down by an ongoing lack of mental strength.
Nowadays we have lack of mental strength tied to a lack of talent- depressing.

Regarding the mental strength. It's almost like it's part part of the clubs DNA when you think of our record under pressure - penalty shootouts, semi-finals, play-offs etc.

One reply to Stuart Watson's tweet about the article stated that Garvan had some off the field issues, more during his time at Palace & Col U than with us. Is there any truth in that?

And the real annoyance is that our record in finals is impeccable: FA Cup, UEFA Cup, Play-Offs, Texaco Cup, FA Youth Cup...

Keane clearly intimidated some players. It seems he expected every player to be as 100% committed as he always was as a player & he also was unable to forget a slight or a grudge.

Intimidated some- and just wound others up.

Themental toughness thing is a complex subject- but has an awful lot to do with belief and togetherness. Things which are utterly undermined when you have a character like Keane in charge.

Lots of managers expect that, they just don't expect to achieve it by being a massive kunt.
