Overrated Town players 09:26 - Apr 12 with 9670 views | judespiveyg | I feel like best and worst Ipswich players are discussed to death on here, so I'd be interested to see which players people thought were generally overrated by our fanbase. This doesn't mean they weren't good but instead that you couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. I'll start... Cristophe Berra- Good defender, but was talked up like one of the best in the league even though he could barely complete a five yard pass at times. Aaron Cresswell- By all means has gone on to prove me wrong. The best crosser of the ball I've ever seen Ipswich have but honestly never blew me away as a defender, always thought Mings was better for us. Keith Andrews- We've been so starved of midfielders who can score goals that people think Andrews was actually good. He barely even ran. Jonathan Douglas with a good shot.

Overrated Town players on 09:36 - Apr 12 with 4599 views | WD19 | By definition this category will always be dominated by those that fall into the bucket of ‘one of our own’ and are given far too much benefit of the doubt. See half of our squad currently. Another bucket is goalkeepers who looked flashy behind a leaky defence, with insufficient attention paid to why the defence is shaky in front of them when it is (part of their) job to organise it. Town have two very full buckets right there....

Not sure about this. He was an exceptional finisher at a young age. I got the sense that as he was converted into a battering ram centre forward he lost this. Maybe it was just the confidence of youth and scoring a zillion goals every game that just evaporated in later life. I think he could/should have really been something special. He would have been far better being a back up striker at a big club in his early career than the main main at Sunderland. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Sereni was great at patting out shots back into danger I think in hindsight I’m sticking Richard Wright in, made loads of mistakes and in big games too Jim saved his bacon in play-off 2nd leg, he was badly at fault for 1st 2 goals and was lucky not to get lobbed from 50 yards in that 1st half too - I remember him being shaky in most other play-off games as well Because of relegation and Sereni and Marshall being so bad it makes Wright look better, as he showed at Arsenal he couldn’t handle the big stage Was over hyped by press/burley and us IMO

Nah, Pablo wasn’t overrated..... Everyone knew he was a one trick pony. That trick mostly being to fall over in the penalty box.

He was also useful on the day after a match to get the balls from the roof of the Cobbold Stand.

And Reuser. Two players who would both occasionally do something amazing, but weren't always trusted by their managers (who will know a lot more about pro football than us) because of what they didn't do when they didn't have the ball.

Overrated Town players on 10:14 - Apr 12 with 4393 views | ElephantintheRoom | You could get to most of them by making a list of recent 'cult heroes".... pablo counago, sixtu peralta, reuser, thetis, bontcho...etc etc, all singluarly useless though capable of the occasional moments of humour or magic Then make a list of inexplicable managerial favourites - and hey presto you have them all.

Wash your mouth out, Reuser was a god. Should have been used more, not every player has to run around and track back, some who have greater quality should be allowed to do what they do well and leave the lesser talented players to run around and bit a shift in.

Rather depends on the manager and the approach. Jim trusted Pablo enough to bring him back. And he presumably knows far more about "pro football" than us...
