Maybe it's just over this way, but surprised more pubs didn't opt to do the old fashioned milk bottle service for takeaway to reduce their stocks. Wouldn't have minded finding a few litres of ale on the doorstep some days.

That used to be a service most pubs would do. There is an account of my great grandmother sending it back because they hadn't filled the jug to the top.

Both the pubs my uncle ran had a 'slip'. The one that is still a pub still has it. although I don't think people turn up with a jug these days.
