Pretty honest interview with John Edmunds on C4 news just now 20:13 - Apr 28 with 1012 viewsgordon

Worth watching - he seemed more or less to accept that assumptions SAGE had made in Feb / early March hadn't been correct and that the process hadn't been effective. Not a dig, he was brave to appear in public given the situation and to try to give honest answers, when others on the group haven't offered themselves up for scrutiny.

The expertise on the group was heavily weighted towards statisticians / modellers, and they seem basically to have been handed by govt. the responsibility of making policy (which isn't going to be their strength) rather than modelling outcomes from policy options.

Looks like a proper mess to me, with a lot of positioning going on already - it will be interesting to see how blame is apportioned between Ministers, SAGE and special advisors in the aftermath.

Govt today had also volunteered that they don't necessarily follow SAGE's advice. They're currently sitting on recommendations thinking whether to act on them or not.

We'll get some truth beyond the slogans in the end, but it'll be hard going.

Why the fugg they can't just be honest, I've no idea.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

The word 'honest' doesn't appear in boris johnson's lexicon, that's why.
