Twitter rabbit hole find - social distancing reporting edition on 08:09 - Apr 29 with 549 views | bluelagos | Good find. And it feeds the hysteria, paranoia and anxiety as we all cross reference the things we spot and naturally worry the lockdown is failing. Yesterday I definitely picked up some increased road useage over a few weeks ago. Only it was p*ssing down with rain, so any thoughts that people were off to the beach, to a barbq simply does not stack. But people need to shop, some go to work. I sure as hell didnt see any families in their cars, any groups of young lads etc. The road, tube, transport stats were shown again in yesterday's briefing and tell a compelling story that generally people are not making social journeys. As for outside social distancing, we can all spot individuals not being sensible, yet we focus on them and not the dozens of people patiently queueng 2m apart in the Tesco car park. Or the millions who literally dont leave their house at all. But of course they are invisible. [Post edited 29 Apr 2020 8:17]

I'm sure car usage goes up whenever it rains, those who might otherwise walk or cycle choosing to keep comfortable and dry instead, so not a surprise if it went up yesterday. | |
