I do this a lot.

I am on my own a lot (as a lorry driver)

I converse with myself, argue, tell myself jokes (and laugh at the punchline if the joke merits it, especially if I haven't heard it before), sometimes tell myself off.

Are there people who don't talk to themselves?

I think that is fine but when the tools and the walls start answering back you should be worried. And if they start to talk amongst themselves and completely ignore you it's time to shoot first and ask questions later...
