I agree. He was foolish & had to resign, but if he's our best scientist, it will actually be a loss to the country.
The BBC were revelling today in their "scoop" that some hairdressers are operating illegally. Yes, they shouldn't be doing it (nor should their clients) but most of these things are on a very small scale & will make a negligible difference to controlling the virus. |  |

That's not really true though.
If a hairdresser sees 10 people a day and each has 4 people in their households then that's 40 possible new infection vectors every day.
It's also fair to assume that if someone is willing to ignore the rules to get something so unimportant as a haircut then they are likely flouting the rules in many other regards as well and likely seeing people increasing the vectors again.
This is the problem with exponential growth and why the rules need to be observed.
As for the Prof, of course it's relevant. He stood up and said "this must be done" and then didn't do it. It's pretty shameful to expect others to do what you aren't willing to do yourself. He has been rightly outed.

Well its a tad difficult to be sympathetic but this bloke's modelling has been absurd and inaccurate on every viral scare since foot and mouth, including SARS and th laughable bird flu 'pandemic' - and usually out by a factor of 1 million on what panned out in reality.
The problem facing incompetent politicians is how do you factor in worst case scenarios into a world where you are out of touch with reality. The worst case scenario is that you could be hit by a meteorite every time you step out of the door... but I'm guessing you dont stop that worst case scenario affecting your life?
This 'story' is just a tory plant to avert prying eyes from the real story... deaths are now at 54,000 - and rising, despite the too late pretend lockdown. Prof Pinocchio is a two faced git - but he is working for two faced gits, so no surprise there... and as he has had covid already he is merely following the science. | |

He was the one person who needed to follow the rules. There is no concrete evidence that having had it makes one safe and non-contagious. She also suspected her husband had it so him agreeing to meet meant that she travelled whilst possibly contagious.
It's pretty hard to criticise anyone for doing whatever they want now as they can just point and say that the governments own modeller isn't following the rules. Some have started that already.
