My figure is correct on todays numbers but the point is that it does disproportionately affect the elderly. Grouping the elderly in nursing homes was an accident waiting to happen. Dealgan House Nursing Home in Dundalk, Co Louth had 23 deaths in its resident population of 84 in April. | | | |

That's certainly the case in some situations, but it can't explain every home with this issue.
I am thinking of one in particular that is home to a relative of mine and [as far as I know] there's been no resident been reintroduced there, which means it's come through the doors via staff.
Neither scenario is acceptable of course. People move into those places to be looked after, not to be held captive for a disease to finish them off. | |

There were no deaths nor signs of the disease before that.
It hasn't sat there dormant for 2/3 months.
