So 1 in 400 has Covid-19 in the UK on 21:20 - May 14 by Swansea_Blue | Extrapolations are irrelevant. Severity isn't related to total population, it's all about the local/regional transmission pathways. China being the perfect exemple. Nobody would deny Wuhan hasn't been significant in all of this; they had 1 in 873 infections, but China as a whole has had 1 in 16,797 people infected. New york, Lomabrdy are other examples. |

So 1 in 400 has Covid-19 in the UK on 19:51 - May 14 by factual_blue | Diabetes compromises the immune system. Add to that the fact that many 'type two' diabetics won't alter their lifestyle, and you get people who lay themselves wide open to viral diseases. (I speak as a diabetic) |
Tough on Diabetics all right. My father died of a heart condition so I keep an eye on my cholesterol levels. My doctor who is a Type 2 Diabetic crusader includes sugar level in my regular blood tests. I mentioned to him that I thought that medical science had got a handle on Diabetes. He said that was definitely not the case and that too much cholesterol in the blood would not damage your system while too much sugar would. Excess sugar in the blood causes havoc to the body while excess cholesterol eventually just blocks the blood vessels. According to my doctor Type 2 Diabetes is at epidemic proportions and is totally life style linked. He said to me that was one disease you don't want to get.

Its a valid point, to be fair. Much greater chance of getting cancer but don't see anyone social distancing and washing their hands regularly for that. Certainly does beg the question.
