Why don't they just take their time and restart the season once it is safe to do so.
Why the worry about next season start date, just start that a few weeks after the current one finishes. If that is December 2020 then so be it, I really don't see why there is such a rush to end the season now. |  |

Why does next season have to be run along normal lines? Adapt as the science dictates. If you have to write off a season, it is better to write off one that hasn't started than one that has nearly finished. | |

But presumably the plan is to start 2020/21 by August/September time, what happens when the second wave hits the Autumn we are stuck in a similar scenario.

I'm assuming they're assuming that it will be safe to start in August behind closed doors. There must be some evidence to back this up. It'll be a shadow of the game it should played out in dead stadia, but that's a different issue.
There's a likelihood we'll have further waves of this through the next 12 months, so I suspect the footie will be a changing situation anyway and the best made plans may not come to fruition.
What they do with TV is critical here. They've shown that they cover all games for a kick off time with the Sky red button service. If they want to hang on to fans and try to build a vibe around the season they'll need to review and change TV coverage to reach out to as many fans as possible. |  |
