...where I've been busy and returned to my desk to find abuse reports and name-calling on the forum. Not sure I need to remind those involved that it's not welcome. If it carries on I'll just ban those involved, regardless of whether they're long-time users or otherwise. Total waste of my time having to deal with it.

We only have to think back to January for the #bekind campaign and Caroline Flack.

How soon people forget.

I wonder if a 'politics' tab would help. In the past 6-12 months, this forum has become dominated by political discussions, and the poison that comes with it.

What we need is a kinder, gentler politics.

Made a lovely coffee cake earlier and wish you could all have a slice. That might put an end to the bickering for a bit.

Coffee, carrot and ginger are just some of the things that should never venture into a cake.

Impressive to get three things wrong in a row. Those are some of the best cakes around.

The worst? The Battenburg. Terrible cake.

But I make a really bloody good coffee cake.

Posters being pious re supporting those with health incl mental health issues - in theory; whilst un practice posting barbed personal comments of a defamatory/abusive/belittling nature deliberately designed to cause stress/upset to individuals.

Has been going on here for a very long time. It's the hypocrisy that gets you.

After a nice long walk there's nothing better than a cuppa and a big slice of carrot cake. Yum.

Marzipan is far too sweet for my tastes. See also: cupcakes that are basically half cake, half icing. If you want to eat a bag of sugar, just cut out the middleman.

That might work as an argument if batteneberg was half marzipan and half sponge but, at a rough guess, it is usually less than twenty percent marzipan to seventy five percent sponge and five percent jammy filling in between the squares, i.e ideal proportions to all but the most philistine of tastes...

It's got marzipan in it. Nuff said. I'll admit to not having a very sweet tooth, so perhaps I'm not the best judge of cakes, admittedly. However I am very partial to the urbandictionary definition of cake.

P.S. I am spelling it the correct way, as per the original Frederick Vine, Saleable Shop Goods for Counter-Tray and Window, 1898.

You young whippersnappers keep trying to change it but you're not fooling me.

As a rule, yes.

But I had good marzipan once. Not too overpoweringly sweet and almondy - and it was pretty nice. I was shocked.

I don't hate a little marzipan and like the almond aspect.

The one thing I have never understood is icing.

Who the hell in their right mind wants to go to the trouble of making a cake and then cover it in that bloody stuff?
