Boris needs to resign. 17:36 - May 24 with 2814 viewsGirthyguy

His position is now untenable after this blubber of sh1te. This is up there with trump injecting disinfectant. Embarrassing

That was probably the most shameful performance thaty I can recall from a Prime Minister.

All that guff about him self-isolating is absolute cr@p. They must have a completely different definition of what self-isolation means to the rest of us.

He's not going anywhere.

I expect he'll complete his term.

Absolutely no chance.

He’s hating being PM and he’s bloody awful at it. No way he‘ll last more than another year

I suspect, disappointingly, that you are wrong. No way he will walk away.

With a majority of 80 and six months in to a five year term? No chance.

That’s true but Trump revels in the whole thing, Boris hates it. The very people he’s desperate to be liked by absolutely despise him, I just can’t see him wanting to stay on and now the polls are also turning against him the backbenchers will turn.

IMO obviously

Not sure the polls mean much at this stage.

No chance. You've seen from the manner to which he came to power and brushed off his immoral and illegal actions since that he's going to hang on to this at any cost.

I'm not.

My two questions clearly don't do that.

The system needs to change.

If politicians are no longer going to abide by the long standing conventions that make our parliament effective (and make it the worst arrangement in the world for governance, save for most of the others...) then we need a mechanism to deal with these situations.

Shorter terms? The ability for a significant proportion of the house (even if not a majority) to force some sort of disciplinary process by independent arbiters? PR?

Something has to change if they are going to ignore the conventions.

I wouldn't go that far (although by definition of how they were allocating ICU space, he literally didn't deserve the bed). PM though, so you can see why he gets special treatment. Him and his closest advisor shouldn't be above the law though.

Like I say, I expect pelters but I'm extending him the exact same level of courtesy he's extending to my family. Before the pearl clutch brigade get all frothy, I'm not wishing harm on him I'm just saying that if a near death experience doesn't turn you into an actual decent human then I don't know what hope there is for him.

I was hoping his experience might have changed him for the better. But it does indeed look like he's beyond help.

No politico with a partner who writes for the Spectator, who lives in a leafy part of London and who drives a range rover to a family farm in Durham and stays in a separate house - and those who support him- gets to use the term 'metropolitan elite' ever again
